What we read
On page 17 of Skillful, Bixby and Scanlon (2013) use a large photograph and some discussion questions to introduce the topic of unit 2, design, which is also the title of this unit.

I think it's a picture of Nest stadium in China. I love it. I have heard about the concept which inspired by nest of bird.

ReplyDeleteWhen I first looked at the photograph, I had no idea what it was or where it was. I reminded me a bit of Suvarnabhum Airport, which also has the open look.
ReplyDeleteWhen I think of famous buildings around the world, my own country's famous opera house comes to mind. Sydney's opera house, sitting on the harbour near the bridge that crosses the wide expanse of water, is well-known around the world and is an icon of Sydney, as is the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Both of these icons feature on the cups, T-shirts and other gifts on sale in Sydney's international airport.
Another well-known architectural icon that comes to mind is Paris's Notre Dame Cathedral, which was recently in the news when it was seriously damaged in a fire that destroyed the roof of the building, which is almost 800 years old.
A very different famous structure that also came to mind is China's wall. The Great Wall is impressive for its size, especially as it was built more than 2,000 years ago, but it's not that exciting to look at.
More exciting is the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, which is almost three times the height of Bangkok's relatively short Mahanakhon Tower.
I like Mahanakorn tower which have signature design that we can all notice.

ReplyDelete2) Eifel tower, statue of liberty , and the great wall are well-design. The first one is the highest tower in Paris and made of steel. Next, It's show the freedom in USA and place on the island. last one is the longest building in the world which is in china.
3)long building is my favorite place in Thailand because it's the longest building in my country and also have the story from the past since world war 2.
I have no idea what it is or where it is, but it look like kind of stadium. It has great modern and elaborate design and be able to hold a number of people.
ReplyDeleteOf cause i like it's design. It's beautiful and maybe has already become the landmark for that area. However, because of it's complex structure, it's difficult for caring and cleaning.
My favorite building is colosseum because it's has beautiful and story-telling carving picture, Patheon because of its holy history and Pisa tower since it has miracle on construction's problem that it's tilt but didn't fall down.
For my country I love Rong Khung Temple. It's all whited paint with extremely elaborate design and has meaningful story telling about Buddhism. On the contrary, It's all white so the temple can get dirty so easily.
1.I do not know what or where is this place, I think it is some kinds of stadium with a unique structure. I think it is special because it looks like a bird's nest. Also, I like it design.
ReplyDelete2.I think Giza Pyramid, Machu Pichu, and The Great Wall of China. These are special because they were made more than 2000 years ago, I want to know how they were built.
3.I think many people know this building, The Long Building, located at Suankularb Wittayalai School in Bangkok. It is the longest building in Thailand, about 200 meters.
I don't know the building in that picture and where it is, but it's beautiful place. I think it is special because of its location which is next to the river, plus the building has wonderful lights that go well with the river at night because it can reflect as a good view.
ReplyDeleteOne of the unique designed building is Pyramid. It took builder a long time to finish it. The structure is different to the others. Second one is Pisa tower. I like the way it be as a tilted tower by accident. Third one is Iffel tower. It looks beautiful because of its good design.
In Thailand, Wat Prakeaw is one of the most famous building. It was design and decorated with great cultural details which are what i like, but I don't like its clear design which has so little shade that makes it a hot place.
Bird nest stadium at Beijing. It is special because of its design and I quite like the way it is design as I have never seen a stadium like this before.
ReplyDeleteEiffel tower in France, Duomo di milano in Italy, Temple of the emerald Buddha in Thailand. What make them interesting is its design that is so fine and it is amazing that how can the earlier people make these architecture without these day engines.
I'd like to choose Thailand temple of emerald Buddha as it has an exquisite detail.
I assume that this place is a picture of Nest stadium in Beijing, China. What's make this place special is the inspired from Nest of Bird. I like this place because is very unique. In my opinion, the three famous buildings from around the world are Taj Mahal in India, Neuschwanstein Castel in Germany, and temple of emerald buddha in Thailand because they mix their culture in detail of the structures which make places very beautiful.
ReplyDeleteIn Thailand, we have a famous building is temple of emerald buddha or Wat Phra Keaw. The designed of this place is very splendid and combination of Thai culture and Buddhism. But , I don't like it because this place is very hot.
