Toenails can reveal lung cancer risk

Do you believe in palmists who can predict your future by palmistry interpretation ? What about yourself? Do you believe in yourself, if some parts of your body can predict your future about heath? After I read this article,Toenails can reveal lung cancer risk, from BBC News, I would like to observe my toenails everyday.

Scientists points out that there is an interesting way to predict lung cancer by looking at people's toenails regarding to nicotine levels in clippings. If toenails grow slowly by a few millimeters per month, people may have a high risk of lung cancer. It can use to observe in both smokers and non-smokers because the researchers found that the people who have the highest nicotine level were non-smokers by being secondhand smokers. Lung cancer which caused by smoking habit is also the common cancer around the world and trend to be increase everyday.

In my opinion, I think this study is very interesting and useful for people in order to check their healths. Moreover, it can check in non smokers , so it will make them concern about their health also. As I know nowadays people who are the secondhand smokers have higher risk of lung cancer than the real smoker. But some group of people still believe that only people who smoke will get the lung cancer. This idea make them misunderstand and may look over their health risk in spite of they are passive smokers. However, there is nothing better than going to see doctor for health checking at least twice a year. And the most important thing is taking care of your health, for example, eating well and doing exercise.

Polar ice loss quickens, raising seas

After I had read this article " Polar ice loss quickens, raising seas " from BBC news. I think everybody have to concern more about global warming. If we are not help our world from this kind of pollution, we will face a higher seas level in the future.
Ice loss from Antarctica and Greenland has accelerated over the last 20 years, and it will become the biggest of sea level rise. After the scientists look at the data from satellite and climate model, they found that the two polar ice sheets are losing enough ice to raise sea levels by 1.3mm each year. The scientist predicted that the sea level in 2050 could added up 5.9inches in average sea level.
In my opinion, this global warming problem was launched in many years ago. But, it has only few people concern about this pollution. Also, I think this is a long term directly effect to our world which can causes all of the human being in daily life. As I know nowadays, all of the technology can make the world temperature hotter and the ice mountain will melt faster. However, we have to help our world by stop the global warming. for example, do not leave the appliances standby, car pooling, reuse, reduce, and recycle organic.

New video of 9/11

Today, I found New 9/11 helicopter video of Twin Towers released on BBC news. When I saw this news, I remembered event in 2001 that hijackers crashed jets into the buildings.

The video is about helicopter is hovering near the building. It has someone yelling that "The whole tower, it's gone, they knocked the whole fricking thing down." "The National Institute of Standards and Technology obtained the video from the New York Police Department during its investigation into the structural collapse of the Twin Towers." "It was released by the NIST in response to a Freedom of Information Act request, but it was not clear who published it online."

The video reminds me that event was very big news. It had many people was killed by terrorists. At that time I was watching TV. I remembered that people was panic and crying and someone was climbing out of the building. I think everyone still remember that situation.

Drinking from a bottle

"Drinking from a bottle instead of the tap just doesn't hold water" is a topic, which make skepticism for me. I wonder why drinking from a bottle is a serious problem in US. However, when i finished this article,it makes me concerned about our environment.

According to the Earth Policy Institute ,some 2.7 million tons of petroleum-derived are used to bottle water around the world every year, and costs consumers up to 1,900 times more than tap water. The container recycling reports that 86 percent of plastic water bottle in the U.S. end up as garbage or little.

I'm a person who usually drinking from a bottle instead of a tap . I think drinking from a bottle is convenient ,and the important reason is water in a bottle is more clean than water from a tap.According to this article, shows how does drinking from a bottle is a serious problem in U.S.
In thailand, it can be a serious problem too. However, we don't pay more attention about plastic bottle because we think that it can recycle. Actually,we don't know the quantity of plastic waste and the quantity that how much it can recycle. So, we must more concerned about plastic waste.
Besides, thai government should take care of water supply.I think water from a tap in thailand isn't enough clean and safe water to drink. If water from a tap is clean enough for drinking, it's a good way to reduce a plastic bottle.

Air transport in Asia

The growth in air passenger numbers is increasing because transport affects every aspects of our daily life. I have read the BBC News report on " Hongkong orders kick off with Air China's Boeing deal "

During the next two decades, the Asian passenger air transport is predicted to become the biggest air transport market, has grown by an everage 5.8% per year. In China, Air china is searching to provide a new routes because of the rising demand. Not only by orders from business airlines, but have also more order from private plane due to the increase of a wealthy people in China

Airplane travel is one of the easiest and fastest way to travel. Moreover, it is the safest way to get destinations. I think Nowaday, Thai people tends to use a plane in domestic instead of by bus or by train because Trains in Thailand is too slow and not safety. while, a bus is easy to have an accident. Today Air transportation have many new routes that easy to go to destinations and there are many choices of low cost airlines such as Air Asia, Nok air or Orient Thai airlines. Therefore, The time to reach destinations faster and simplicity

Exercise cuts risk of developing bowel cancer polyps

Exerices have many advantages. for instance, keep fit, redeuce stress, and cuts risk of developing bowel cancer polyps. The article " Exercise cuts risk of developing bowel cancer polyps" on the BBC News tells us more details about exercise can cuts risk of cancer.

The article though a few research and senior professional shows that keeping active could help prevent thousands of cases of cancer every year. In a word,  lifestyle is an important factor in protecting people from cancer.

I agree with the writer that exercise cuts risk of developing bowel cancer polyps. Bad temerament is easier make people ills. However, when people do exercises, they will feel happy and exciting. It is good for people's health. Moreover, if people do not do exercises, their's immunity will be reduce. As soon as viruses  invade to body, it is terrible. Exercise make people's mental health. As long as mental health and physical health, it can be cuts risk of developing bowel cancer polyps.

Is research worth expenditure?

Thailand has been recognized as a global leader for producing and exporting a variety of agricultural commodities. The most important crop of Thailand is Rice. However, recently, Thailand’s top rank is being threatened by several of its competitor, especially Vietnam. Our government should do something to respond to this issue. A report in BCC news“Flood-resistant rice 'also has drought-proof trait'”, should make us realize the importance of bio-technological research as one of sustainable solutions to solve the problem of agricultural productivity.

Professor Bailey-Serres and her team discovered that a rice trait that contains the gene called Sub1A has abilities of resistance not only against floods but also against droughts. The investigation revealed that both pathways that the plant's response to both submergence and drought are controlled together by the gene. Therefore, controlling the gene will activate the crop's ability to survive and recover from either kind of extreme weather event. "Our findings suggest that the plant recovers well from drought and growing new shoots," Professor Bailey-Serres said. "This is something that is also seen with flooding." Furthermore, the next plan, which aims to transfer the gene’s flood tolerance traits into high-yielding varities, has already been conducted.

This news made me remind of the problem of rice production in Thailand. The most of Thai rice is produced by farmers who, normally, receive monthly income less than normal standard of low income. So, the future of Thailand as well as the poor farmers in the north-east depend on sustainable policy to maintain high productivity of rice. Although the Thai government was successful in most of their plans to increase rice production, including investing in irrigation, infrastructure, a large amount of rice field is inevitably affected by extreme natural disasters, which is mostly drought and flood, every year. This not only affects entire economy of the country, but also significantly affects the poor farmers. That means whatever having been invested does not offer sustainable policy to satisfy the rice production sector. As we all know, technological advances play a key role on country’s development. For example, from the 1950s to 1970’s rice production per unit of land increased by almost 50 percent. It was because Thai rice farmers took the advantage of new rice varieties, strains, fertilizers, and technological advances that the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) was distributing (Wikipedia, 2011). However, by adopting any know-how from other countries, we are expected to lose some benefits in exchange. Even worse, in “Lack of innovation as Thai R&D falls flat”, Experts said “Thailand has been slow to expand its research and development (R&D) capability, placing it in danger of losing out to global competition in its quest for economic growth via the production of higher value-added goods.” (¶ 1) It seems like our government has not realized the situation enough as they think expenditure on research will mostly result in publications on papers, which is not practical to develop the country. As long as the Thai government still dismisses the importance of expenditure on science and technology to increase productivity of rice or other products, it would become harder for Thailand to keep its competitive in the international stage. Conversely, if our country have plans to invest in potential research projects that can develop new rice or other economic crops strains, which can glow in every climatic environments and can endure every extreme weather conditions, our farmers could have much higher quality of life, and our economy would become more stable. Should our government increase R&D spending? I looking forward to hearing your comments.

Results of poll on daily reading expectation

Below, I've copied and pasted in the results of the poll asking you how much we should expect to read every day. Tonight's reading of "Fire on the Mountain" in Golding's Lord of the Flies is within the limit that most people thought reasonable.

How many pages per day should AEP level 5 students aim to read?
(There are 7 days in a week. Per day means "on each of those 7 days".)

Deserve to what he did

Confession is a good thing but it is also the hardest part for people who make a mistake. An article "George Michael says he 'desreved; to go to jail" on the BBC news is a good example of a person who reform himself by making a confession.

George Michael, a singer, has said he deserved to be jailed last September for crashing his Range Rover while under the influence of cannabis. He was given an eight-week sentence and fined after driving into the front of a photo shop in London. He said going to jail had been karma for repeatedly breaking the law.

I think this news is a great example that supporting a karma is existing. Almost of every problem are based on the cause and effect concept. What the thing that you have done, it will effect to you. If you are doing good, the result will be good. And, if you are doing bad, the result will be bad. Moreover, there is one thing which is considered to be the hardest part is confession. Of course, everyone can make a mistake but some can make confession. Although George Michael had broken the law, he braved enough to confess to his fault. By the way, what happen in the past is what you cannot change. But what will happen in the future, is what you can control. And if you make a mistake, do not hesitate to confess it.

Crime and Punishment: it isn't academic

Since this story, which has been in the media for a month or more now, directly relates to what we do in AEP, I emailed The New York Times article to myself a few days ago so that I could come back to it later and blog it when I had a little more time. In "Plagiarism in Dissertation Costs German Defense Minister His Job", Judy Dempsey tells the salutary tale of a very popular and successful politician whose life has now been pretty much destroyed because of his academic crimes.

Dempsey reports that Germany's defence minister, the popular and influential Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg, resigned on March 1 because of charges the he plagiarised other people's work in his doctoral thesis. As Dempsey notes, Guttenberg had initially denied the accusations of plagiarism, but the evidence was there in his doctoral dissertation as a record; after finally admitting a week earlier that "he had made mistakes" (¶ 11) in his use of sources, he finally did what opposition politicians and academics had been demanding, both resigning from his powerful government position and renouncing his doctorate. Meanwhile, the University of Bayreuth has revoked the degree because of his crime.

As Quest repeatedly emphasises, plagiarism is a serious crime which no good university will tolerate (Hartmann, 2007, p. 188; Hartmann & Blass, 2007, p. 110). Some garbage universities with low standards might not refuse a degree to students who steal other people's ideas, but who would want such a worthless degree? And that is why Bayreuth has cancelled Guttenberg's degree - it's the only thing the university can do to protect its reputation as a serious academic institution. It was the right decision, and the normal response of a good university to plagiarism. My own response is a little gentler: as my notes on plagiarism in the Explanation of AEP Grades advise, when I come across it in my students work, I give that piece of writing a P, with no option to revise it (Filicietti, 2011). Actually, I'm even gentler: I'm prepared to overlook it once if we haven't already covered plagiarism in class. This blog post counts as covering it in class for this term.

One reason we are blogging the news here as part of our daily writing is to practise the skills involved in using sources in academic writing. Whatever field you study, you will constantly need to use other people's work to support your own ideas, to argue against them, to build on them, and so on, and learning the related skills of quoting, paraphrasing, citing sources and writing reference lists are essential to doing that successfully and safely in your academic writing.

Don't fall into Guttenberg's costly mistake. His university would have been less concerned and would not have stripped him of the degree if he had only committed a murder or two, or indulged in some corruption.

And one last question: in my title, what does the word academic mean?

The effect of unemployment

Most of people think that today the US unemployment rate is one of the important problem result from the Hamburger Crisis in 2009. When I read this news " US unemployment rate falls to 8.9 % " , from the BBC News , I thought why US unemployment rate is still has happened.

The US employment rate has dropped from 9 % in January to 8.9% in February , with more than 13 million US people, still almost double before crisis happened. This number don't consider Some US people have given up looking for full time employment but find part time jobs instead. Most people work in Manufacturing, Construction, Business services and Transports. Even though, the jobless has fallen but current employment growth is not enough to recover the million of laid off.

While I was reading this news, I think about Hamburger Crisis in 2009. This can be effect to economy of all countries in the world. The declining in economy has affect to many parts of the economy such as stock market, financial sector and unemployment. Two years ago, On the television, I saw US people stand in long line for seeking a new jobs. While, most companies have laid off labour force continuously. I feel depress and unhappy if it occur with me how i will do it. I think that if people don't have job in recession period, it will have an effect on their living both mental and physical health. It's hard to live without a job and money. They have no money means they cannot buy a food, a clothes or something that they want.

Something happen with CEO's bank in Swiss

All of the world must have CEO of their bank to management the progress for benefit and profit to led company to be more increase for them. But this time, it happens in Swiss that the chief executive of Swiss bank UBS call Oswald Gruebel. He was come out of retirement to run UBS two years ago with lose his bonus. This matter makes some one surprise of this because why higher staff like CEO of bank had made mistake that let down the company to lose share price.
__________________________________________________________________
Oswald Gruebel has to waive his bonus for the second year in a row because of the company's falling share price. USB had said that share price did not increase in 2010 has led to Mr. Gruebel's decision. Oswald Gruebel, he thought that he was the only one CEO of huge bank in Swiss that forgo for his bonus. But once time he was entitled to a bonus based on profit and progress toward medium-term strategic goals in 2010 and most importantly his base salary stays the same as when he joined UBS. Finally, something happen with many CEO of bank in Swiss that they're had waived bonuses for 2009. But pay-outs have been reinstated following the performance of financial institutions in 2010, with several executives taking bonuses in deferred share awards.
_________________________________________________________________
Many people who love business they would like to be a CEO, and I'm the one in those many people that want to be CEO of large company in the country. But when I read this news that something happen with the higher position staff just like CEO that make a trouble mistake inside the company to let it down to lose for profit. Then a CEO should responsible for his just like on the news to waive a bonus. The fact many company when they're have a terrible problem with them, the first people that have effect must be a lower position staff but for this matter the boss have to forgo a bonus so far in this year too. This happening make me feel unhappy that why the position in my dream have to responsible like this because CEO make a good benefit and bring profit to company for many time and he need to take care of many people in there. However, this matter can't change my mind to be CEO like this and most important I must learn more from news just like a problem while I study to prepare myself to get better knowledge. Actually, that in the news had said "UBS shares fell 4.4% in 2010 but outperformed the Stoxx European Banks index, which dropped 11.6%" and I recommend for this is regular or nature that many company have to be like this similar to UBS in Swiss. Many CEO can't run away from those problems like that and I suggest that they have to solve that instead of retirement. According to the news about "pay-outs have been reinstated following the performance of financial institutions in 2010, with several executives taking bonuses in deferred share awards" , The assistant or important position who below the CEO should get a chance for him if he wasn't to be give of those problem like that. Finally, I can guarantee about the problem in the future might gonna happen like this, and CEO's duty have to do his best way to many thing increase for the company.

Devastating Effects from Earthquake

If you have to think of one natural disaster, what's one kind that pop up in your mind? Of course, most people think of earth quake, due to what just happened in Christchurch, New Zealand which caused devastations throughout the city. This has been the most popular news for the whole week and it shocked everyone. One of the source I read is from BBC website on the internet with an article “Christchurch earthquake: Recovery hampered by weather”.

About a week ago in Christchurch, New Zealand the devastating earthquake occurred and it killed at least 160 people and caused billion dollars damages in the city. Even worse, the bad weather including wind and storm hampered the rescue efforts and recovery. Bricks, planks and masonry were blown around, increased the rate of hazards of the residents. As it's a big city there're businesses going on a lot, business leaders have begun raising questions about the future of the city and still not sure what's going to happen next.

After I finish reading the article, what happened in the news is unavoidable and unpredictable. Even though we had known in advance by the prediction of seismologists, there was no way to stop it anyways except evacuating people from one place to another place. But still, buildings and properties would be damaged as the effects from earthquake. This earthquake has made people realize it's good to be unity to care, love and help other people as much as you can do or have opportunities to do so, in order to rebuilt and recover the city back to the way it was before. Importantly, to encourage people to get back to the same sentiment they used to feel or had to the city. This kind of thing takes time, but I believe that one day in the next coming few year people will get over it and start out their life like they used to do. My prediction to this city is that the recovery including rebuilding and repairing the building, cleaning off dust and debris and encouraging tourists and residents would take at least 10 years. Who knows, what's going to happen next. Take a close look at this city and you will see.

Exercise Cuts Risk of Cancer

When i'm thinking about "cancer", the first image appearing in my mind is my recent work place. I had a good opportunity to work as an oncology dietitian at Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital for 5 months, I could understand and get used to see many patients suffering from cancers. It's very difficult to explain about their all aliments but apparent symptoms are depression, a terrible pain, or unconsciousness. Thus, when I was reading this article, Exercise cuts risk of developing bowel cancer polyps, from the BBC News, I totally thought that why is this article not be published since many many years ago.

Scientists from the US point out that there is a relationship between low exercise level and bowel polyps. "Polyps- also known as adenomas" grow in the bowel and can develop to cancer in many following years. Professor Kathleen Wolin, one of the researchers, states that the evidence can present an association between exercise and risk of cancer but there is still no the exact reason. However, the apparent benefits from exercise are reducing inflammation in bowel, lowering insulin level, and enhancing immune system. In addition, Sara Hiom, from Cancer Research UK, also mentions that keeping active "prevent thousands of cases of cancer every year" because keeping a healthy weight is the good way of reducing the risk of cancer. Therefore, she recommends doing exercise at least 30 minutes per day. Besides, Mark Flannagan, Chief Executive of Beating Bowel Cancer, says that the lifestyle, including physical activities and a healthy diet, is very important in the cancer prevention.

I'm really happy to read this article because it'a really useful not only for me but also everyone. I believe that prevention is better than cure. And the suggestion from this article is not difficult to do at all. It's just doing exercise at least 30 minutes and having a healthy diet. I think we would be happier because it would bring us several benefits. First of all, we needn't waste of time to go to hospital if we don't have cancer. When I was working in the cancer department, I saw many patients have to go to receive chemotherapy and check their disease progression at least every week. It's not only waste of patients time but also their patient caretakers or relatives. Secondly, the cost of cancer treatment is very expensive especially in high potential drugs.(Care vs Cost: How Much Is Too Much To Treat Cancer?) For my experience, I heard that some patients who don't have enough money to support their treatments have to sell their own properties such as houses, cars, and gold. It's very terrible story that happened in Thailand. Last of all, I always observed patients that come to see doctors always get pretty depression. Some are worried about their disease might be more severe, some are worried about their life expectancy. All of these, I'd like to call it "extremely desolation". As I mention above, these are my feeling when I see people suffer from cancer. So I really want to recommend you to follow the guideline. Just only doing exercise and eat a healthy diet can reduce the risk of cancer.

Japan to review aid for booming China

Today I have read the CNN News report on "Japan to review aid for booming China.

Japan will review and possibly cut financial aid to China, in light of Beijing's growing economic power, the nation's foreign ministry said Friday(P 2).

After I read this news I just think about Japan and China's economic. Since 1960s, Japan started supporting to China as indemnification after war. Since 2007, the most of nations affected by financial crisis. Japan is one of them. Japanese government thinks that Japan will review aid for China. Because China overtaking Japan in terms of gross domestic product. In my opinion, Japanese government should not stop aiding for China. There are 3 reasons that Japan should continue supporting China. First of all, export trades in China has a bad setback, because many countries cancled the orders after financial crisis. Moreover, although China's GDP (gross domestic product) is the highest in a world, average GDP is not high. Because China has a  larg population in the world. Finally, current China's economic  is same with Japan's 1960s. In conclusion, Japan government should continue to supporting China.

The Last Airbender scored 5 Razzie Awards

Every year before the Academy Awards announces that which actors, directors or screenwriters, will be the best in their crafts, the Razzie awards, will be following their tradition to name the worst actors, directors, and screenwriters. And this year is particularly interesting for me to see that who will win or in this case loose, in the BBC news, titled, "M Night Shyamalan's Last Airbender wins Razzie Awards"

In The 31st annual Golden Raspberry Awards 2011, the famous director, M. Night Shyamalan who has won the worst director and worst screenplay for his 2010 film, the Last Airbender, which also won other 3 awards, worst film, worst supporting actor and worst " eye-gouging misuse of 3D". Among the winners are Ashton Kutcher who took the worst actor for Valentine's Day. While his co-star, Jessica Alba, won the worst supporting actress. Regarding, Shyamalan's the Last Airbender, The founder of Razzies, John Wilson said, "He managed to take a cartoon property and make it even less lifelike by making it with real actors, Most people who like the show, and this would include my 14-year-old son, hated the movie. It made no sense whatsoever."(2011, ¶13)

It has been fun following the Razzie Awards this year. First, after the nomination was announced, I noticed that in the worst supporting actress category contained three nominees that share common identity. They are Cher, Babara Streisand and Liza Minnelli, all are legend singers with multiple Grammy Awards, the Tony and Emmy winners, and ironically, the owner of four Academy Awards, and they were about to put one more award on their trophy shelves but it was snatched away by Jessica Alba when the Golden Raspberry Awards announced on February 27. The most popular film in this year Razzie would be The Last Airbender, which deservedly earned the worst picture, worst director, worst screenplay, worst supporting actor and, the new category, worst " eye-gouging misuse of 3D". This film is an adaptation of the animation, known as the Avatar. My first impression for the film trailer was quite positive and was eager to see what it will be like, but after I had seen it, the feeling was disappointing. After the movie, I ran to Google and have a research I found that I was not the only one, several viewers and film critics are majorly upset with how much the movie adaptation and the casting are misunderstood. First, The protagonists of the original animation, The Avatar, are all Asian, indicated by their names, such as, Ang, Kitara, Sokka and Prince Suko. Nonetheless, the film's director has tried to make the main characters to be more westernized, although Shyamalan, denied the accusation and said that it is an own interpretation for the movie and thinks that the Anime characters don't particularly possess the Asian features( 2010, ¶8 ) . Plus, I think the direction and the screenwriting of the film were still unsuccessful and the story lacks its depth, the Rotten Tomatoes rated this movie only 6%, giving mostly negative reviews. I am actually an admirer of Shyamalan's works, like the Sixth Sense, Signs and the Happening, but I am sure this film is certainly not one of them. The Last Airbender's sequel is waiting for a greenlight from Paramount Picture, in fact, there will be two more as Shyamalan has planned for the trilogy. I sincerely hope they will make it, and that he will make such an improvement and produce great films that will make a die-hard fan, like me, jumping on the seat with excitement, just like before.

Will the tablets promote our creativity.

My academic interest is gadget technology. Someone may doubt whether gadget technology should be regarded as academic interest. I would like to note here that my interest in gadget technology is not mainly focus on technology advancement. Instead, I enjoy learning many things from this matter, including personal philosophy, history, business perspective as well as influences towards society. Here, I would like to relate this issue to academic aspect. This week, the news of technology that hits every media worldwide is nothing but news of unveiling of iPad 2, as reported by BBC news, "iPad tablet launched by Apple's Steve Jobs".

Apple chief executive Steve Jobs came back from medical leave to unveil a new version of the iPad, the promising tablet device that is expected to replace PCs in the near future. "We think 2011 is clearly going to be the Year of iPad 2," said Steve Jobs. The iPad 2 is thinner, lighter than the original version released last year and it was also claimed that it is dramatically faster due to the "A5 chip". The new iPad features front and back cameras for photography, movie-recoding and video chat. Besides the improved hardware, The iPad 2 offers "iMovie" video editing software, "GarageBand" music making suite and "Hot Spot" software that lets tablets access the Internet by synching wirelessly to iPhone smartphones.

Tablet PCs have been developed for more than a decade. But until Apple came out with its little iPad, this technology became to hit technological consumer as it is really practical for information consuming. Of course, tablets like the iPad are useful for consuming information, but I don’t think it is useful for creative process. Having tried using an iPad of my friend, I cannot deny that it is a great device for consuming media as well as information with much pleasure. But, if compared with laptops or PCs, it is not convenient for producing information or high quality sources of knowledge that require mouse, keyboard, more space of storage, and higher performance processor to manipulate them. That could be referred that the more people using the tablets there are, the less they are likely to produce documents, reports, news, and any information that we would like to be informed. I agree that blogging or commenting about certain issues on the net allow us think creatively and promote our thinking process for some extend, but if people post them by tablets, almost of that writing are less likely to be serious stories or good quality essays. It is because writing something on visual keyboard on tablets is not as convenient as doing that on a real keyboard of a PC. Thus, as this technology is becoming popular for our daily life, we will slightly be becoming information consumers rather than creators. Of course, tablet technology can offer us a lot of enjoyment, and I cannot deny its advantages of following updates, but how it is useful if, in the future, our young generation have only nonsense comments, not academic article to read.

Lady Gaga on runway

When I found this news "Lady Gaga make her catwalk debut at Paris Fashion week", I absolutely sure that this news is not ordinary. Gaga's name is usually know as a interesting or strange topic. Lady Gaga is a famous singer, and she is well known for her quirky style

Lady Gaga,24 years old single, has made her debut on the catwalk at Paris Fashion week during the Thrierry Mugler autumn/winter show.On the runway, Gaga was dressed in a sheer black top and painted-on pencil skirt ,and wore the towering platform shoes better than some of the more experienced models.During the show, she made a strange thing by puffed on a cigarette, blowing clouds of smoke towards photographers.Lady Gaga ends the show by walking to her singer Born this way as backing track.

After I finish the article, this news make me sure that Lady Gaga is really unique and extraordinary. When she appear in a public, she can attract an attention from everyone.Gaga is well known for a singer position , but I think because of her style, a queer costume and some behavior are made her more famous.Such as when she arrived in Japan, she wrote a massage to Japanese fans on her white Hermes purse ( I can clearly remember because I thought it's very crazy). In this time,Gaga appeared as model position ,and she didn't make the audience disappointed. On runway, Gaga made her prominent by puffed on a cigarette, blowing clouds of smoke towards photigraphers. In my view,Lady Gaga has quite strange personality. She is a fabulous singer and genius one. I can remember that my first time when I saw her music video "Bad romance", I thought that this music video is very freaky and little violence ( I think it's not suitable for young people),but the rhythm get stucked in my head. In my opinion,Gaga isn't a teen idol ,but she can make inspiration for many people.I have known that when Lady Gaga studied in university, she was an ordinary student. Nowadays, She different from the other artists and she doesn't care what other people think. If you ask me what do you think of when people say "Lady Gaga"?, my answer are a cool singer with quirky costume and the fabulous music video.

Traffic

Today I have read the BBC News report on “New cars in Beijing cut by two-thirds to battle traffic”. Even though this is old news but I just read it today. This news reminds me the memory when I went to China. I went to china with my family several times especially Beijing and Shanghai. One of the problems that I faced with was traffic congestion.

“New cars in Beijing cut by two-thirds to battle traffic” tells us about an effort of Chinese city authorities who try to reduce numbers of cars in the capital city of China – Beijing. Because of the huge numbers of cars in Beijing, it causes a serious traffic congestion and pollution in Beijing. “City authorities try to solve this problem by allow only 240,000 vehicles to be registered for 2011 - one-third of year 2010” (P 2). This new rule is not the way to solve problem but it just only the way to slow down the time to reach the worsening traffic congestion.

After I read this news I just come back to think about traffic congestion. Traffic congestion seems to be the major problem of people who live in big cities. I know it is really hard to find the right solution to solve this problem. Different countries have different policies to deal with this problem, but it still exists. Come to think about our country, in my opinion our country also try to solve this problem, even though our problem doesn’t sound big like China’s problem (because China has much more populations than Thailand),but this is also a big problem in Bangkok. People who live in Bangkok need to get up earlier than people who live in countryside because they have to fight with traffic before they can go to work on time. This must me really tired that you have to get up early in the morning and go to fight with traffic and when you go back home in the evening, you need to fight with traffic congestion again. It is really boring that you need to face with something like this every day. I think China’s policy is also a good idea; you just limit the number of cars per year. Somehow I also think about riding a bicycle instead of driving a car, but after I came to live in Bangkok, this is not a good idea anymore because the weather in Bangkok is very hot that is the reason why people don’t choose to ride a bicycle. Finally I hope that traffic problem could be solve by some solutions, they don’t need to be the same solution as other countries because I think each country should know the best which solution should be the best answer for problem.

Cancer 'is nation's biggest fear'

What kind of diceases that can make you fear for? For me is cancer. Cancer is one of the harmful diseases that can happen to everybody. So, we should keep updating about its news. As I find this article "Cancer 'is nation's biggest fear' in the BCC news, I would like to share with everyone.

The poll of more than 2,000 UK adults shows cancer is feared ahead of debt, knife crime and unemployment. According to cancer research UK, it is said that it was important for people to realise cancer is not inevitable. Half of all cancers could be prevented by healthy lifestyle changes. And even if a person does develop a tumour, if spotted early many cases can be treated to give a better chance of long-term survival. So, the department of Health is launching a campaign to raise awareness of the early signs and symptoms of the cancer to encourage people to seek medical advice as sson as possible

Nowadays, there are many product such as a cancer vaccine, and an cancer insurance. I can refer that a lot of people concern more about cancer. Cancer is a kind of disease that alomost everyone scared of ,including me. As I heard that the remedy is quite tough, and suffering. Furthermore, I heard that cancer can not be fully sweep away from your body. It can be dispersed to another organ in a body. I can tell that there is no way to have a hundred percent of recovery. All the sufferer have to do is to be alert to their health throughout of their life. From these reasons, almost of everyone feel paranoid of cancer. When you fear of something,no matter it is not happen to you, you feel depressed. Once you feel depressed, you will fear of it. According to this news, it is said everyone can prevent oneself from cancer by changing one's behavior to be healthy. At present time, you can find lots of healthy food available in anywhere such ar restaurant, and supermarket due to the healthy trend. Changing yourself to be healthy person sound more easy because of surrounding environment. Moreover, cancer can be curable if you find it in the early time. From my point of view,it is necessary to encourge people to have a body check-up at least two times per year in order to prevent yourself from harmful disease. Finally I would like to say there is always a solution for everything. Changing behavior to be healthy and body check-up are also a way to protect you from cancer. So, if you know what is the way to prevent yourself from cancer, why don't you start it now?

Worse than McDonald's

I happened to be visiting my family in Australia a couple of years ago when my youngest sister gave birth to my latest niece, and I was relieved to hear that she declined the hospital's offer of the placenta to consume or take away. This was what came to mind when I read the BBC News report "Breast milk ice cream goes on sale in Covent Garden" a few days ago. I immediately emailed it to myself as something I might like to read again, and perhaps blog on.

"Breast milk ice cream goes on sale in Covent Garden" tells us about Baby Gaga ice-cream, which is now available from a London restaurant. The desserts distinction is that it's made from fresh human milk, which is provided by women such Victoria Hiley, who welcome the £15 per 10 oz of fresh milk she provides to the restaurant. It's the idea of icecreamist Matt O'Conner, who, whilst admitting that some people think "Yuck", insists that "actually it's pure organic, free-range and totally natural" (¶ 8).

First, I have to admit that I'm one of those people whose first reaction was "yuck". It didn't sound as disgusting as eating the placenta, which has apparently become something of a fad in Australia at least, but it certainly didn't appeal to me as something I want to rush out and try, although I'm not sure that Häagen-Dazs or any of my usual ice cream shops are about to start offering it. But when I thought about it a bit more, I wondered about my own reaction - I did, after all, live on breast milk for the first few months of my life. I don't remember the details, but I'm pretty sure that my mother breast fed me for at least a few months. And of course, some of foods that I enjoy seem disgusting to others; for example, not all Thai people love the mouldy old blue cheeses that are a regular part of my diet, and although I've tried them, the deep fried grass hoppers that are readily available on the streets around my home do not excite me either, but just like fresh human milk, these foods are all nutritious, natural and perfectly safe to eat. The different feelings towards these foods are only a result of growing up in cultures with different customs, and are not obviously right or wrong, or better or worse habits than any other food custom. But I still don't want to try Baby Gaga.
