When I was 8 years old, I was interesting in science. But I never learn about it when I'm growing up, it's too hard for me. I'm a lazy girl who want to sleep and play around with my sister and friends. I used to watch one tv program which made me excited. It's about doing an experiment for kids. I watch it on walt's disney channel. The man on that show do many experiment which interests me a lots. On that show, he used the real car to do an experiment. When I was that age, to do something interest with real car quite attract little girl so much. This kinds of tv show get my interest that one day I will be a scientist. In the real world the life is very hard, and I was too lazy to read a lot of books. So, my dream job is just an imagination:)

ReplyDeleteYour post reminds me of a show I used to love as a child. It starred a scientist from America, Professor Julius Sumner-Miller, who pretty much fit the mad scientist image of cartoon books, but I think he was real scientist. What he did was short but dramatic experiments, for which he then gave some explanation, without the mathematics (at least I don't remember any mathematics). One experiment I remember is he had a fire going under a large steel drum with a little water in it, and after sealing the drum, he extinguished the fire and cooled the drum: it collapsed in on itself under the surrounding air pressure! A most dramatic result. I grew up on a farm, and we had the same heavy steel drums lying around, so I knew how strong they were. I'm sure this sort of thing and teh natural explanation helped spark my own interest in science as a way to explaining the world around us.
I love watching an experiment on TV or the Internet too. I remember that when I was in high school, I was assigned to do experiment, which I can't remember what it serves, but I do remember that I had to find any method to protect an egg, which I would drop from the fifth floor. As a result, I went google and found that there was an exactly the same kind of this experiment tested before. So, I imitated that technique and applied to mine. Unfortunately, I got the different result. My egg was broken instead of staying alive. After that I tried to figure out what's wrong with my experiment and I thought that because of my material was not so hard that it could protect my egg.
ReplyDeleteThe method to protect the egg is remind me when I was in university. For the first year in university , my professor also assigned me to protect the egg by using any kind of paper and dropped it on from the tenth floor. It's very fun because I have to think the shape of paper things and how it works. When the test time coming, I dropped the egg. And the result is my egg doesn't broke.
