My Academic Interests (Mori)

My major was Engineering, and I'm interested in bullet trains now. There are many trains around world. Famous ballet trains are TGV and Shinkansen. Their systems have been used many countries. However, their systems are very different.

  1. Oh, I sound great about the train. If you like train and specially classic's train. I have one suggestion for you, that's Thai train. We have used train for a hundred years and it's almost similar as a first time that we used. Some of us gave a lot of complain for us train and it's no wrong. I think it's too old, noisy and dirty but if we take a train to go outside the urban, it's the best part and we will see the great view of Thailand that you can't seek in Bangkok.

    1. I haven't taken a train in Thailand. I'd like to see traditional train. And I've heard there are trains which I can ride without paying money. Is it true?

    2. Yes,it's but not every train and that's too crowd one. Around four years ago Thai government gave a policy for decreasing living cost. And then, we got a free bus and free train.

    3. Thankyou for your reply.
Oh, I see. It's nice policy. The transportation costs are sometimes too expensive.

Thai trains are very cheap. It costs 5thb From Bnagkok to Don Mueang Airport. it costs 15thb from Bangkok to Ayutthaya. You should try to ride on Thai train.

  2. Yes. I love trains, especially the Shinkansen. Do you know that the Shinkansen is not only speed but also the safest train around the world?
Of course I love classic trains, too. When you come to Japan, I recommend you should go to the Railway Museum.

Anyway, I understand your opinion. I used Thai train from Bangkok to Chang Mai. I think the maintenance of the train and rail are not good, and cars were dirty. I did not want to use toilet of Thai train. Train’s staff must keep clean in the train, and passenger also keeps clean, too. I saw many people ate food in it, and then they throw away their garbage on the floor of the train, or out of it. If all of passenger think about keeping clean the train, Thai train might become comfortable for you and me.

    1. I had only a chance riding Thai train from Bangkok to Chaing Mai in a last couple years ago and I felt pretty much the same as you said especially the point of toilet thing. Also, it took very long hours like fifteen hours to arrive Chaing Mai. So, I was suffered from being stuck in that dirty place. I then decided better not riding the train again if I am not necessary.

    3. I see peace’s point, and some Thai people don’t like train trip in Thailand. In my opinion, the view from trains is better than cars or airplane. When I travel around Thailand, I want to choose trains as possible without night trains. There is a lot of nice view from trains here. When my Japanese friend come Thailand, I make her/him use some transportation such as the canal boat, trains and local buses and so on. Most of my Japanese friends told me that the train trip was the most interesting and exciting. I agree with them. What are Thai trains attracting us? I think it is not only view but also something. However, I don’t know what something is…

  4. Oh... I forgot to write it down. I also enjoyed taking trains include train's noisy sound, and I like all of station's atmosphere, too. I think MRT and BTS stations are very clean station, but not comfortable for me. They are same as Japanese stations, but Thai train stations made me relax, warming my heart. Now, I want to ride on Thai train very much.

  7. This turned out to be a popular discussion. Mori sensibly began by writing about what interests him. He then came back and replied to those who commented, who then responded with further comments to Mori and each other.

I hadn't realised that there was so much interest in trains, but I was also reminded of my own enjoyment of travelling by train during daylight as a great way to see Thailand when I first arrived and wasn't so rushed as today. These days, I would agree with Peace and always fly if the alternative is more than a few hours.

  8. I really agree with Nopporn. Thai train is too old and must change as soon as possible. I took it only 2 times in my life and I don't want to take it anymore. I don't say it's bad but I would like to say it's terrible!

I took from bangkok-Ayuthaya and Bangkok-Kanchanaburi. It took so long time, too much noisy, dirty and it was not comfortable at all. I don't know when they will change it but I am wishing. I would like to see Thai people have a good transportation.

I like TGV too. It's very fast, clean and have a good system.
