Spend Big Amount Money

I want to win the lottery someday, but I rarely buy it because I have never won it. Have you ever won lottery? What would you spend this money if you get 1 million dollars (30 million thb)?

According to “Norway Oksnes family celebrates third lottery win”, this family members have won the lottery 3 times, and they get a total of more than 3.9m dollars (120m thb). One person has won the lottery twice by now, but it has never that 3 members of the same family have won.

I envy that people who win the lottery, and I want to ask them how to spend the money. If I got 1 million dollars, I would deposit in the bank and live by the interest. However, Japanese bank’s interest is very low, so I would save 50% of the other country’s currency such as Thai, US, Euro, Chinese or Australian currency in the bank. My friends say “Your dream is boring”. After that they ask me again “If you got 1 billion dollars what would you do?” I would answer the same.

One of my friends asked me, “If you get 1 million dollars from bank's interest every year, what would you do?” I like this question because I could answer it easily. I answered that I want to buy the stock of JR (Japanese Railway Company) every year, and to be the large stockholder of it someday. I want the company to be spent a lot of money to develop Shinkansen and linear motor car (magnetically levitated train). My dream might be getting money constantly which I can spend money with feeling relieved, or I might want to develop or be developed a new bullet train as soon as possible.

  1. I read the title of this story a few days ago, but didn't look at the article. I'm glad someone has chosen to blog it.

And I like Mori's thoughtful response. I think I would do the same, carry on as I do now, even if other people do think it's boring. But I haven't tested this theory yet - I'm waiting to win the lottery. But since I never buy a ticket, I guess my chances are even lower than many other people's.

    1. Yes. First, we have to buy a ticket, frequently if we want to win it. Have you seen lottery sellers in Thailand? I see lottery sellers in Thailand almost every day, but I have never bought Thai lottery. I would buy it if I knew how to confirm my ticket and how to get money.

  2. I like Australian currency, at least at the moment, although it hasn't always been so strong as it is now. I hope it continues - if China keeps growing and buying our minerals and other resources, that will help a lot. I think we also ship a lot to Japan, but I'm not so sure about that. I don't read the business sections of newspapers that closely: if it's not a front page headline, I generally miss business type stories.

    1. Japanese currency is very strong, too. But I hope Japanese currency moves to weak. Most of Japanese products are exported other countries, but cannot sell them because of expensive. And Japanese companies had to be price down, so they have tried to reduce employee’s salaries or to reduce hiring Japanese employees. Many Japanese company's factories have come to Thailand, Myanmar and Indonesia, etc. And then many Japanese employees lost their jobs, or work part time job. Some of my friends are in this situation.
Which would you like better, strong currency or weak currency for our countries (Japan, Australia or Thailand, etc)?

  3. I think that yield on deposit money in Thai currency is not high at this moment as well. Perhaps it's better to invest in stock.
A lot of people whom I know donated at least half of the money they won from lottery every time they got money. They believe that because of doing this, it makes them won lottery frequently.

    1. You and most of Thai people are so kind. I knew why Thai people donated a lot of money to Japan when our country was attacked earthquakes and Tsunami. It was not only government’s money, but also Thai people's own money. We won't forget Thai people's kindness forever.

  4. During reading your post, I remembered some episodes around lottery. My uncle, who once was an honor of a factory, which unfortunately went to a bankruptcy, always bought Japanese lotteries. One day, he invited my family to an expensive Chinese restaurant, because he won the lottery. After enjoying splendid dinner, my mother asked him what he would do with rest of the money he won. He laughed and said by paying the bill of the dinner, all the money he won was out, so there was no money left. On the way back home, my mother sighed and said he was a good guy, but this was why he had lost his factory.

My husband won about 40000 Bt. around fifteen years ago. Although he had bought lotteries occasionally until then, he seldom buy them now. I asked him why, and he said to me, because he had won once, the probability to win has been decreasing, this was why he had almost stopped buying lotteries.
According to your post, a person has won twice and a family three times, and not only that, they won a jackpot, not 40000 Bt. So, I think winning lottery is not a matter of a probability but just a luck, isn’t it?.

    1. I agree with you. I also think the lottery of number is just luck. It's not interesting for me because I cannot guess anything about this. However, Totocalcio (Football pool or Soccer lottery) is not only luck. We can guess which team is strong. So we would be able to raise the probability. I prefer Totocalcio to number of lottery. But I have never won it, too.

  6. The lottery for me is like a DREAM. I bought it about 4 times in my life but I just lost money. The reason that I bought it, because I wonder that there are some of my friends, they won the lotteries very often, I think it’s also about our destination. Someone buys it since long time but never won, but for someone who bought it only 1 or 2 times but they won it. It’s really made me wonder. However, now I know that I should work to earn money by myself instead of buy a lottery.
But if there is the magic in my life and I won 3.9 million dollars like them, I will give some money to my family and poor people and then travel around the world!

    1. I agree with you. I think we should work to earn money, not relay on lottery. Some lazy people think that they want to get a lot of money from lottery. However, if they get a lot of money from it, they will lose its money easily. In my opinion, working is the best way to get money.
Getting money from lottery will be “Easy Come, Easy Go!!”.
