Bad news for Man U T_T

If you are one of the Manchester United, or we always call "Man U", fans, do not delight with the champion which you have just got. Today, I have a news about your team that can make you shock. After bringing Man U to be one of the best team in the world by winning several cups, I believe that Man U's fans respect and esteem Sir Alex Ferguson, a Manchester United manager, as one of the best manager. I  also agree with that. However, he is going to retire after this season. That means Manchester United will not have him as a team manager anymore.

According to "Sir Alex Ferguson to retire as Manchester United manager", the BBC Sport has mentioned that Sir Alex Ferguson, a Manchester United manager, is going to retire after this season. In the news has written about Sir Alex Ferguson's history from being as a football play until becoming as a Man U's manager. While he was working in this position, Manchester United won several trophies such as Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup, Champion League, Cup Winners Cup, FIFA Club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup, Inter-Continental Cup, and FA Charity/Community Shield.

After working for a long time as a manager, Sir Alex Ferguson has done a very fantastic work by bringing Man U to be one of the best team. He has a skill to train general football players to become famous players. I believe that everyone can remember of his accomplishments and regard him as a legendary football manager. His retirement is very surprising.

I am a person who really love football as many people around the world. I love to play, read, and talk about football. When I was in grade 1, I did not know anything about football. Because my school had a great football team and everyone in my school was crazy in this sport so much, I heard a lot of things about football at school making me be interested in this kind of sport. After watching football for a long time, I realize that being as a football manager is an very interesting job. Don't you want to try??

  1. I'm afraid I'm not a football fan. When I had to play it at school, I hated it, and my classmates were not keen to have me on their team, where my benefit was probably a bit on the negative side.

But there is one thing I like about football: it's a great example of the importance of practice. Just as you cannot improve at reading and writing without regular practice at actually reading and writing, so too do footballers have to get out on the field and actually practice. Reading books about football and technique and the rules and so on might be very useful, but can no more make anyone a great player than studying grammar or memorizing a vocabulary can make anyone a good reader or writer.

This is one thing that always stands out when I read about great sportsmen like Tiger Woods, Usain Bolt and so on: they might already have had great potential, but it was only through lots of regular practice playing golf, running or whatever that they became great at their sports.

  2. And it's nice to have a post on a different topic.

  3. I do not like football when I was forced to study in PE class in high school. I remember that during this period, I and most of the girls in my class were sitting along the edge of football field under the shadow of the trees. We just chit chated for an entire class. I know that it is not a good idea to ignore an exercise which will make me healthy.

I think that playing football can increase the spirit of teamwork. Because the footballers have to support each other in order to reach the same goal.

I also think that team manger not only have the football playing skill, but he also has an excellent strategic planning skill in order to beat the game.

  4. Like Peace, I'm not a football fan. But l've recently watch TV film based on true story about Manchester United, United (2011). Before I watched it I didn't know much about this team. The film is part of the team's history. I was impressed by team players who sacrificed their lives for football. Even though the theme is tragic, every character is very interesting, especially Jimmy Murphy and Bobby Charlton, assistant manager and remarkable team player, respectively. Also, the role of manager is extremely important in the film. I think it is also true at present since all decisions he made always lead to changes not only positives, but also negatives in football history.

  5. Oh, I'm sorry. I mean The film tells us some part of the team's history, not all of it.

  6. I am not a football fan too, but I still interested in football because I found that many Thai people usually have their favorite football team; especially Man U and Liverpool. I am also curious why many people love it and some of them crazy about it very much. As we can see on their body on which they tattoo the logo of the favorite football teams. They can also support their favorite teams by buying the original football sport clothes and scarves which both are the correct direct ways to support their teams more than just creating tattoo the logo on their body.

However, I did not say that creating tattoo the logo on body is the bad thing. People have their rights to do what they want to.

  7. I admitted I was a Man-U fan, now a Arsenal fan, and the majority of my friends have also been its supporters. However, I think this news at this time didn't not sharply surprise them and the rest of fans around the world since few years ago, there frequently were a similar news like this that "Fergy" decided not to continue his career. Accordingly, I think all of MAN-U fans already knew what they have to undergo.

  8. When Poom writes that "Sir Alex Ferguson has done a very fantastic work by bringing Man U to be one of the best team" (¶ 3), how did Ferguson do this?

Is Poom right in his following answer? That his success is in large part attributable to his skill as a trainer? This does sound right to me. If he could not train his players to excel at actually playing the game, then anything else he might have done would be totally useless in creating a successful football team, which I presume is a major purpose of playing.

The relevant question for us, which the football fans can perhaps most accurately answer, is: What is the most important element in this training? What is the one thing that could not possibly be taken out and still leave a strong training program? I am sure that Man U's training program consists of several components, each important, but I also suspect that every football trainer sees one thing as not negotiable. What do you think? And how does this relate to our class? (Synthesis across contexts is a useful skill to practise here.)
