Stories: readings 1 & 2, "National Hero" and "Mixed Memories" (SkRW2, pp. 79 & 81, Developing critical thinking)

What we read

We have now read and checked our understanding of the readings "National Hero" (Rogers & Wilkin, p. 79, 2013) and of "Mixed Memories" (p. 81).

Our response

  3. We rewrite the stories of famous people in history because we would like to praise their goodness and make it last forever in order to the new generation will know about what ancestors had done for them, for example the story about King Taksin. I think it's not the same reason we rewrite our own ones because we are likely to change the story as we want it should be

  4. I think the reasons are the same, because both types of rewriting happen in the present, when we think the stories are no longer sensible anymore and we have to change some part of the stories to reflect our current view. I think it doesn't matter if it is our own stories or others, but the point is the stories need to change to be more sensible.

We rewrite the stories of famous people in history, because it is one way to show how reputation we are. I also think that it is made up to be a national history to appeal foreign visitors or aim in military that I don't know.

It is likely our story that we are used to creating positive one. However, it depends on evidence and we cannot make it rely on only what you want.

Rewrite the stories of famous people in history is not the same rewrite our own stories.
