Response writing 2: Fathers of FAS babies. Quest 2, p. 218, ex. F.
In her concluding exercise to the three reading parts of chapter 7, Hartmann asks us to do some response writing on different topics that the previous readings have discussed (2007, p. 218, ex. F).

If the fathers do not use drug or alcohol, they should take good care of their babies and avoid the mothers to come close to the babies when they are drunk or cannot control themselves. But if the mothers use alcohol, the fathers might use it too because I think men tend to use alcohol more than women. In this case, the babies should be taken care by someone else.
ReplyDeleteFather should encourage mother to stop drinking, and ask mother to grow a baby as better as they can because of blaming each other doesn't make anything better.

DeleteThe father of FAS babies should play in the important role for this situation since the mother may be unable to take a good care to the FAS babies who need more attention than the ordinary baby, so they may do the mother and father tasks in the same time. It sound so difficult but they must take this responsibilities since they're the father.
ReplyDeleteFather's obligation should take care of FAS babies, spend time with kids, and, most importantly, they should keep positive thinking and trust their infants become normal as regular people. More and more fathers care their kids willingly, more and more they have much expectation of kids' appearance.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you on the feeling that father has toward his child, but I don't think it is a good idea to let father takes care of his child alone. Someone who is alcoholism sometimes he doesn't have enough ability to take care of someone else. So, I don't think father can does as you say but there should be someone looks after him as well.
DeleteI don't agree with Ying that father of a FAS baby should not grow a baby alone because It's maybe slightly different between a woman and a man about a liitle detail of things, but overall man has the same abilities to takes care a baby as well as woman do. Moreover, in this era that single family increase more and more. parent should be the first response to take care of their baby. ;)
DeleteThey should take care their family and must not leaves their family while it is in trouble. They should encourage their wife to stop drinking alcohols and help her in treatment. For their FAS babies, They should learn how to deal with this FAS.
