In her concluding exercise to the three reading parts of chapter 7, Hartmann asks us to do some response writing on different topics that the previous readings have discussed (2007, p. 218, ex. F).

One of my brothers has an addiction problem. His main drug is alcohol, although he has used other drugs as well. I would say he is at step 4 at the moment, although at times he has been at step 6. This is a long term addiction. Because of legal and social pressure, he sometimes stops using the other drugs, but since alcohol is the main problem, his life continues to be a mess. He had a very successful business, but lost it because his drug use caused him to fail to meet contracts. His family has also suffered. He is now separated from his wife, who has taken out a court order to keep him away from her and their daughter.
ReplyDeleteIt is very sad, but as Hartmann points out in "Addiction: What Can Be Done About It?", there is nothing I or anyone else can do until he takes the initial steps to do something about his alcohol addiction.
I knew one person with an alcohol addiction. He is in the third step that is regular use of drug.
ReplyDeleteI know my friend who used to use drug which is ya baa, and he was at step 3 -regular use of drug- before he was sent to the rehabilitation center. His house is near to my home, and his mother is friend of my mother. She told a lot of bad things that her son does, and I knew that this was time to send him to rehabilitation center before worse things come.
ReplyDeleteOne of my senior colleague Philip addicted to smoking. I guess he is at step 3 at the moment because he smoke everyday and he tends to need more. Finally, he use electronic tobacco so that he can smoke anywhere.
ReplyDeleteone of my friends is addicted Yaa Ice, I think he might be step 5 because he always need drugs to function,he cannot control himself with out them, and he has used many kind of drugs, sometimes he cannot find Yaa Ice or have no money enough to buy Yaa Ice, he will buy a drug which is cheaper one.
ReplyDeletewhat do you think if this guy were my friend, and then I would call a police to arrest him? Am I morally right to do this just because I have a good wish to him?
