  1. In my view fears are just a natural part of life that most people have but different types. I don't think that we have to worry about them because even we have fears but we can live and avoid them, for a example I has a fear of cockroach and I have to face with them sometimes but not all the time so they aren't problem in my life and I can avoid them.In my experience I have learned that I can't choose anything but I can choose to happy with my life.

    1. Yes, I agree with you! sometimes fears are importance for people to survive. If we are not afraid of tiger, we might get eaten by them. We fear something jsut because it is associated with other things. For example, your fear of cockroach because this little monster are associated with dirty stuff and this may lead to infection. Or else their apperences may make you think of monster that will spill out some acid that might melt your skin.

Fun Fact (according to iq.com): If a person touches cockroaches, they will run away and hide to wash themselves.

  2. Personally, I think fear is a natural behavior and a part of life. First I accept that it is hard to not worry about fears but we should not let fears affect to our daily basis lives. I think if they affect how you live, you should try to solve your problem and learn how to live with the fears. You should admit that fear is part of your live. If you could not do that, it will impair you and you might be difficult to cope with other problem in your life.

    1. Your thought is coherent and I absolutely agree. It is always hard for everyone not to fear and fears always impair life. I think that perhaps fear is related to our desires. Many fear that they won't realized their dreams and some fear of there lost. I think it's a good idea to focus on the root of fears. Once we know the reason behind it is easier for us to deal with it.

  3. I am not sure whether fear in this context is about. In my opinion of fear, I think it is totally resonable. For example, snake or even the fear of holes, we fear of these because it is directly associate with other nasty/dangerous things. If something is resonable, we should not worry about it. However, phobias ,for me, are the fear that is not reasonable and this really effects our life : work, eat and even sleep. It is hard to control these kind of fears by our own since it is not resonable. Sometimes people fear something that is sounds unreasonable to other but if we look at their childhood or part of their experience this will clearly explain why they are fear at something that is unusual. There is a cure for this but the process often takes time because these fear are rooted deep down in person's mind. Still, resoning with the may or may not help them much but I think this is the best cure. There is genetic associated with this since some of fears are coming from our ancesstors where they have to face many fears/dangerous animal. They are trying to survive in the cruel world and this got transfer to us.

    1. I agree with your opinion of fear.it different from phobia which sounds unreasonable,it is totally reasonable.Actually, what's more important is how we deal with the fear when it coming, not just worry about it.it's easy to overcome fear although we keep worry about it.

    2. I like your idea that some of our fears are derived from our ancestors.

Thais tend to fear of invisible things such as ghost. Some people who doesn't have direct experience with ghost also fear of it.

This fear may be occur because many horror story that related to ghost can make them fear.

  4. Although I think fear is a natural part of life that we shouldn't worry about, it still has some fear that can make me fear such as ghost or animals.

Most of Thais fear of ghosts which is invisible things.

My friends and I don't like to stay in the hotel because of ghost. Although we can't see it, it can easily make us afraid.

    1. I agree that lots of Thai people scared of ghosts even sometime they never experienced them. I also have fear of ghost even when I'm alone at home or when I'm in dark places. However I also believe that if you have strong feeling of fear something so badly and you panic because of it all the time, it needs to be fixed. For example, if you fear of closed places and you couldn't stay in small room or even getting in bathrooms it is a phobia and need to get treated.

  5. In my opinion, fear just a natural in part of life.follow reasons 1.fear is different from phobia,it is not so serious, and in some circumstances fear comes naturally, for example, when people make a public speaking, nervous can be a fear but it not so badly if we prepared enough.

    1. Actually, I don't especially fear speaking in public. In fact, it's something I've enjoyed since I was in primary school. Perhaps I learned form my childhood experiences that speaking in public was nothing to fear. I used to do one of the readings at mass every Sunday. My parents were Catholics and I went to the local Catholic school where kindly aging nuns in traditional black habits taught us to read and a bit of Euclid.

Catholic schools had a reputation for being scary since their teachers tended to use harsh discipline against students, and I guess that the nuns at my school in their heavy, serious black clothes and solid leather boots could look scary, but they were not. The young nuns were kind and encouraging. The old ones were too old to scare anyone, except perhaps people afraid of old age, and when I was in primary school, old age is not something I remember thinking about.

Tissara has also started us thinking about the next critical thinking question: solutions to fear of public speaking.

    2. I agree with your opinion that we should not worry about fear because fear is a regular system of body and some fears we can prepare for it. As you said, Fear of public speaking can be decreased by a good practicing.

  6. As far as I'm concerned, people should not worry about phobias because it is a normal thing of human beings.I think a fear have a function like a protector of our body, it help to avoid harmful situations. For example, when people fear of spiders, it help them to avoid getting hurt by spider's poison.

    1. In my experience I agree that fears help us to protect ourselves but not all the cases because some fears make problem to live such as some people have a fear of fish then they don't prefer to swim but people should have swimming skill to survive. Although fears can make problems to us but I still agree that people shouldn't worry about it too much. It's normal to have some fears. Just avoid it that is okay.

  7. I think that fears are not something that we have to worry about because what we fear is what is unreal at the present. Therefore, I don't think we have to worry about it. After all when things happen, they happen and we cannot do anything about it.

They are just a natural part of our life. Who have never got fears. Everyone fears something at a time. This feeling is based on uncertainty or imminent harm. I don't think we have to do anything about it just let it be. Sometimes people want to realize their dream and they fear not to achieve it; sometimes people fear of accidents or catastrophe that might change their life and that's where insurances is for. I think it's just a natural part of life and we have to accept it.

  8. I definitely feel that if a fear is very strong, it's a problem and need to be treated because if you fear about something too much such as you fear of spiders that is actually common fears for many people but if they are not a poisonous spider just a normal spider it may causes a problem if you panic all the time. Many people have fear but if you panic of the fear all the time that is when you need to realize that you need help otherwise, it might affect your life.

    1. I totally agree with you that if someone got the strong fears and let them affect to their live, he could be treated. However, some people might fear of a spider, not because of its poison but might because of its features and characteristics which make that person scare of it. And I think that if you fear of something and you cannot face with it. The best way is just stay away from that thing.
