First's academic interests

Renewable energy is now become more important than even. Since it's more environmental friendly than ordinary fuel sources such as oils or coals. Renewable energy is better for our life by producing less pollution :for example dust, carbon dioxide, and carbon dioxide. There are many sources of new kind of energy that play a big role at the moment. For instance wind energy, wave energy, solar power, and nuclear energy. On the other hand, in Thailand, there are just a few of them currently operating and it's far from enough to replace fossil fuel and coal in power plants. Since government couldn't plant the nuclear plants and also failed to built the new coal power plant, Thailand failed to generate enough energy for the country and need to buy electricity from country in Asean.

  1. I haven't thought about renewable energy yet but from your writing, renewable energy looks interesting because in Thailand, many problems are related to energy and now nobody is going to solve this problem. This makes renewable energy becomes more important since in the past, we weren't worrying about energy usage so a lot of energy wasted and we don't have a lot of energy now.

  2. I liked First's comment about nuclear energy. Despite its dangers, it seems a sensible option to me. It does not produce harmful greenhouse gases that now threaten to make our planet unfit for human beings, and it's economical. First didn't explicitly say it, but I'm guessing he also favours the use of nuclear energy. A few other people have mentioned the role of engineering and science, and I think that they are our best hope for averting a climate disaster. I don't think human nature is going to change: I don't want to stop enjoying the life I live, and others won't. Also, those in less wealthy nations naturally want the same high standard of living that we enjoy, and they have as much right to that as we do. That means a lot more energy is needed. Burning coal is a bad way to get that energy, and fads like organic farming would be disastrous for the planet if everyone wanted to eat that way. So I think nuclear is a good option for the short term, but a better option seems to me to spend a lot more on research into to solar and nuclear fusion power. If we can make fusion work, that might solve our energy problems for a long time to come, which would be great for the planet that is our home. I suspect that abundant, cheap energy might also do wonders to reduce the natural human tendency to go to war with our neighbours.
