Tan afraid of worm

I'm afraid of worm since I was young. I can remember that when I was young my sister afraid of them too. My house has a lot of tree. In summer, there were spate of kind of worm. She told me "that is a disgusting animal" all the time. First I did have same feeling with her. I though it just a small animal and it weak. Human is enormous body when we stand beside it. until one day, I claimed a mango tree and was hit by pileous worm which has a lot of amount on the tree. I had a prickly heat in many point of my body. After that, I walked on barefoot on concrete floor in front of my house and crushed down a worm, I hurt again. Since then, I started to fear with it and look them as a dangerous disgusting animal. Nowadays, if I find a worm in my house I will ask someone to take them out, or stay away from that area. I think my sister was right. It is a disgusting animal.

My Wife’s Insect Phobia

I know someone who suffers from insect phobia especially cockroach. As I am entomologist, I am not only love insects but also I watch, collect, and sometimes rear them such as silkworms, butterflies, beetles, and crickets. It is surprise me that my wife extremely fears insects. I did not know it before. She fears all of insects because they have many legs and they can fly. In my opinion, I think that they just have six legs and I wonder why she does not fear the birds which can fly too. When the insects fly to her she scream and escape from them. Moreover, she disgusts cockroach because when she was a child she felt down into the concrete block where has a lot of cockroaches around one thousand. She felt so scare and fear that she can not get up. She just cries and cries for along time until her mother help her to get out from the concrete block. After that she always suffers from insect phobia. Moreover, I have experiences about her phobia when she saw a cockroach in the living room we could not go to bed until I kill it. I spent much more times to find and kill it, about 4 hours. Besides she can injure me if she has a weapon. For example, I am injured by her knife when I feign her with the cockroach in my hand. According to the information, I try to do every thing to protect her from the insects which made her suffer by get rid of all insect away from her.

Kate’s afraid of all kinds of lizard including cockroach

I’m afraid of all kinds of lizard and cockroach since I was young. I think the reason that I’m afraid of these animals because of my parents. When I was child, my parents didn’t allow me to touch these animals because they thought these animals were carriers that could bring germs to me. They’re afraid I will get dirty and sick. They always told me that if I caught them, they would bite or hurt me. So, I’m afraid them and never touched them from that time because I think they are terrible, disgusting and dirty.

However, at the first time I’ve just afraid to touch them. I can see or stay with them in the same room if they don’t come to near me. After since a swift dropped on my head when I opened my house door, I’ve been more afraid of them. For the question that “How do you deal with this fear?” I’ve just stay away from them. If I see them in my room or place that I stay, I will call other people to help me get rid of them. But if I cannot find anyone to help me, I will go away from that place.

Aor's phobia

I have got a phobia about extremely high places. I have never known this my mental disorder until I travelled to Japan with my friends two years ago. I went to Tokyo Tower where all visitors usually see the town around on the 125 floor. This floor had long square areas which were made of strong glass. People could stand and look at the lowest ground floor as bird eye view. I observed that there were many different manners with this area. For example, someone could walk passing through, others only poked their head or did not walk. Moreover, some persons had screamed and open their mouth when trying to walk. I wondered their behaviors. So, I think that they were very coward. After that, I bent down and tried to walk on that. Surprisingly, I was not different feelings from these coward persons but more violent manners than others. I illustrated that my legs shivered; my heart rates were upper than my regular base line-120 times/minute; my breath were hyperventilation; my face was pale. Including, I could not keep walking to the ending part and decided to sit on the glass. I looked like unconscious life. After five minutes, my full conscious come back my body. This happening is my good reason I have promised myself that I must not do risk activity- stand on extremely high places -since I may be died.

Ploy’s fear of high places

I’m afraid of high places. I could remember the first time that I had this fear. It was happened in the orientation of fire drill which is a compulsory practice of my elementary school. The practice was evaluated by the authorities of Ministry of Public Health. So that, my school had to meet the minimum point. The practice also needed to train the students to help themselves from a fire. The practice was many copying fire situations. So that, I had to practice many ways to survive from those bad situations. I think, the worst situation was a fire drills in a high building. In the practice, I had to climb down from the third floor. I was afraid of the situation where everything was a chaos; everybody got panic because they didn’t know what to do.
When I looked down at the ground, I felt slightly faint and tremble. My hand was wet by my sweat. And then I started cry. I couldn’t stop crying. So that my teacher had to come to help me out. In the end, everybody pressed the practice, expected me. That was a horrible and shame situation.

Earth's opinion about a phobia, a fear ,and healthy fears

In my opinion, the difference between a phobia and a normal fear is the feedback when we cope with fear. When we cope with the phobia, sometimes we cannot control ourselves. However, we can deal with normal fear. We can avoid or control ourselves when we face with this. As for healthy fears, I think this is the positive feedback of the fears. This positive feedback will make us more concern about our health.

Keng Opinion On The Difference of A Phobia and Normal Fear

Phobia is a type of anxiety disorder. It is a strong, irrational fear of something that little or no actual danger. For example, some children suffer from school phobia or some people suffer from insect phobia. It seems to be a little thing for other people, but It interferes with their daily life. Many people wonder that why they suffer from usual things. The main symptom of this disorder is unreasonable desire to avoid the feared subject. It occurs without any external threat. I also understand what they feel because I m one of the phobic people about water. Due to the past experience about the accident. I no need to traveling by boat. I prefer to take time by bus and feel more comfortable.

Fear is an emotional response to somethings or some situations. It is a basic survival mechanism occurring in response to a specific stimulus, such as pain, emergency accident. Fear includes such emotions as happyness, sadness and anger. Fear is not a type of disorder. It is related to the specific behaviors of escape and avoidance or the future events. Everyone can fear but It occurs with external treat and in different sources. who can avoid from fear ?

Alina's opinion in ahobic and normal fear

After I read 'What is Abnormal.' I know that Abnormal has three disorders(Anxiety-Based disorder,Mood disorder and Schizophrenia). In Anxiety-Based disorder we know something about phobia. But what is the different between phobia and normal fear? Do you know? In my opinion I think phobia is a very strong unresonable fear. But normal fear is just a feeling about distrees. They are different because phobia is more serious than normal fear. Fear just something that happend suddenly make you feel afraid. But ahobia can be afraid for a long time. So I think every have normal fear when something happend or something that they worry about.

Pin's fear versus my favorite football player's fear

I’m afraid of cockroaches. When I was 10 years old, I saw a cockroach in a bathroom in my house while I was taking a bath. It was disgusting because it is a large brown dirty insect which can fly. It flew around the bathroom and tried to come to me, then I yelled out, and I was hurry to get out off. After this happening, if I see a cockroach in the house, I’m often nervous and have a nightmare. However, This fear is a normal fear and different from a phobia because a phobia is an abnormal response that somebody very afraid of something which could have a major impact on how they live their lives. One of my favorite Arsenal football player, Dennis Bergkamp, is a case of aerophobia– fear of flying. I used to read his story that he was so severely affected which it meant missing a number of football matches that would have required air travel. Moreover, he also has caught the train or driven to distant matches rather than fly.

Peter on Frogs and Fears

Since primary school, I have been terrified of frogs. I can't remember when or why this batrachophobia started. Maybe there was some event that started it, but I don't remember anything. I don't think this is a healthy fear. It was really embarrassing for me because I knew that frogs were small, harmless animals. They could not hurt me, but I was really scared of them. It also caused some problems for me. My family lived on a farm in the country, in a warm, sub-tropical area, and there were a lot of frogs around. I used to walk around to avoid them. If there was a frog on the path, I wouldn't be able to walk that way, and that really did interfere with my life. It was particularly scary at night when the frogs came out to feed on insects.
After about the age of 18, it improved a bit, but only because I made an effort to overcome this irrational fear of small animals that could not hurt me. I did something like slowly force myself to get closer to frogs whilst trying to relax. This worked a bit, but even today, my instinctive reaction to a frog, even on the screen, is to shiver and get goose bumps.
Thankfully, there are not many frogs on Silom Road, and none in my condo.
I'm also afraid of heights, but that's not a problem, and I think it's not an unhealthy fear. If I'm inside or behind a wall, I'm not afraid; it's only when I'm near a high edge that I feel fear, and I think that's natural for most people. I do sometimes get goose bumps when I see construction workers on high buildings. I don't think I could ever do that. I wonder how they feel when they first start working on high construction sites.
But spiders and snakes don't worry me very much. If I know they are not poisonous, I can pick up snakes and play with them, even very large ones. There were also snakes on my parents' farm. I used to kill the poisonous ones and play with the safe ones. They only scared me if they were eating frogs!

Euy's explanation about a phobia, a fear ,and healthy fears

In my opinion, the difference between a phobia and a normal fear is what makes our lifes unuseful. A fear may make our lives better, but a phobia disable us to do somethings. For example, we may fear of heights and this fear prevents us from falling the cliffs and make us more careful. However, if this fear of height prevents us from going above to 3rd floor then this is a phobia.
"The healthy fears" means that we concern much about our health ,so this makes me us fear for doing something. For example, when someone gives up smoking because they are afraid of developing lung cancer, this is a healthy fear because the danger is real and there are constructive steps they can take to avoid it.

Near afraid of cockroach

When i was a child, i'm not afraid with a cockroach. I alway persecute it by touch it antenna and throw it away. But when i was about 9 years old, i saw the cockroach climbing on the toilet wall and then i use the broomstick to remove it away because i hope it to fall down but it flew around the toilet. This is the first time that i know about cockroach can fly. Then it stop on my body, i felt very frightened and disgusting and then i had started to scream. After that, i never touch it again and it make me really afraid of cockroach until now. This fear is a normal fear. The different between normal fear and phobia is phobia has an extreamly severe syptoms but normal fear is just a normally syptoms not severe.

Ann's fear of a high place

I'm afraid of high places. I know this when I went to Phukradueng and I had to climb up. It's very high and has a deep slope. I scared when I looked down to the ground. I told my friends that it's easy to climb up but it's hard to climb down because I had to look down. My friend told me that you didn't fear but you just never done it. This is my first fear of a high place. After that my fear occurs many times but in other cases. I found that I scared but I still be able to do it. However, I still have a situation that I cannot do. It's a jump into water from five-metre high place. I know that it's safe but I cannot do it. I think my fear happens because of my thinking and I want to get rid of my fear, so I try to do it when I have a chance.

Keng Disagree with Stephen Law On Eating Meat

In the issue about the morality of eating meat, I disagree with him in many aspects. In term of discrimination between human and other animals. He has no good reasons for deserving of concern and respect human than other animal such as they are human, they are a highly intelligent creature, or they have language. That are just bias. Secondly, he stated that many people live healthy lives without meat. I strongly disagree with a simple question “how do you think when pregnant woman is vegetarian?” I m sure that eating behaviors will change. In addition, a newborn baby needs sufficient nourishment from breast feeding. That means mothers must eat high protein from meat for their babies. Behaviors that we do for the new life as a baby. Is you concern about an immorality? In my opinion, morality or immorality is depends on the situations and reasons. Although I disagree with this topic, I respect someone who is vegetarian.

Tan agree with Stephen Law that eating meat is wrong

In my opinion, I agree with Law that is morally wrong to eat meat. According to Law argument, the strongest reason which is convinces me, it is not necessity for eating meat to stay healthy. There are millions of people in the world who are vegetarians living healthy lives without eat meat. I think, it just human selfishness that always tries to seek their best welfare, and ignore other pain. I’m quite sure that there is no reasonable argument why we have right to eat them. However, most people still eating meat although they know that is wrong, because they got use to it. I think it is a good idea to try to adapt our behavior, by reduce eating meat, quit eating animals sometimes

Kriss disagree Stephen Law's idea

From the main idea of Stephen Law about morally wrong when we eat meat and we should be vegetarian after I read the essay I think that it is not wrong to eat meat. If we not consume animal meat because of morality, Our body would not get some nutrient because human body can not synthesise nutrient. Anyways, There are 3 groups of animal lives on earth. First of all is herbivorous. The second group is carnivorous. The last group of them is both plant and animal consumer. The humans are the third group because we need some nutrient from plants and animals. If we lack nutrient, our body would be not healthy. Furthermore, I don't thinking about morally wrong when I ate meat or other animal because I believe that I eat for healthy life. For the Question " Where is he wrong?" I think that he is not wrong whre he decide to be vegetarian but he should find other source of essential nutrient for life if he want to be strong. According to Stephen Law's main idea I disagree with him because he doesn't wrote about necessary nutrient but he said only morality. He should show the idea how we get good thing when we are vegetarian. Moreover, he over think about morality (he compare between baby and animal). Therefore, we kill animal not for fun but for food. In contrast, who are killing animals for the game I think that is strongly wrong in morality. However, if we have another source of nutrient same as animal we should select that food because every animal loves its life.

Aor's agree eating meat really is immoral

The writer of the article in the philosopher Stephen law tries to convince people to stop ating animal's meat and change to consume vegetatios instead of them. He provides many argument issues that eating meat really is immoral. After reading, I obviously agree that turkey's life are not enjoyable. Besides, Gemma's data, turkeys must be debeaked because of protecting injure in fighting each other in the limited areas. After trimming their beak, They will get pain all their life as same as phantom pain in amputated men. It is not justified to them. This uncomfortable symptom in human is important treatment for health care providers to be concerned when they take care patients. On the other hand, miserable pain in animals is not realized which nobody pay attention to relieve this to animals. Although, Mrs Wilson argue this issue that slaughter can help them not cruel. But if human can avoid to eat poultry, feeding animals in farms will not occur, animals will have natural lives which not get miserable from acting of human. This issue make me unhappy to eat meats but I cannot do it because I am un comfortable to cook or buy vegetarion meals instead of general meals.

Kate disagree with Law about eating meat

According to the reading about eating meat, I disagree with Law’s opinion in this story in many aspects.

First of all, on page 138 about “Health and design”, Gemma said that “There are millions of people across the world living healthy lives without meat.” I don’t agree with this statement because I believe that no one can grow up and has a good health without eating any animal flesh. As the supporting data that Euy searched for us in the last topic about "Food Pyramid of the Month", people need to consume animal flesh because it provides us many essential proteins, which our bodies cannot synthesize by themselves, for growing up and having a good health. So, everybody needs these proteins for growing up when they were young. It means that we all used to consume animal flesh before.

Moreover, in accordance with Mr. Wilson said on page 138 that “We’re designed to eat meat, aren’t we? We have canine teeth.” I agree with this statement because each organ in all kinds of animals is designed to be suitable for their living. For example, stomachs of the cattle are parted to be four compartments because they can help the cattle digest their food and provide those essential fatty acids and protein from plants while stomachs of other animal are not like these. Like canine teeth of human, they are provided to help us rip animal meat. I believe the natural already creates the suitable features of each organ for each kind of animal including human. So, having canine teeth of human means we are designed to eat meat.

According to the reasons and the examples that I say above, I totally disagree with Law’s opinion.

Alina agree with Stephen Law on eating meat

I agree with Law’s essay on eating meat. First of all I don’t like eating meat, I agree that eating meat is morally wrong. Some people think that we need to eat meat, because meat can produce proteins. But I think we can eat other things to instead, like egg and legume. I don’t agree that animal’s life is different from the human’s. All of the living things have their own life. We don’t have power to deprivation their life. I think we don’t need meat. Because in the pass our ancestors didn’t eat meat. But later they began to eat meat because there was no food. So I think we can live without meat if we didn’t eat meat before. So I agree that eating meat is morally wrong.

euy disagrees with Law in many reasons

I disagee with Law 's idea because he stated many flaws in his essay. First, he is certainly wrong about discrimination between turkeys and humans. In fact, turkeys are a slaughter too because they eat small insects to maintain their lifes. This means that they are not different from us so, why we do not ask them to stop eating meat too. Moreover, he explains serious fault about the choices of their meals because he focuses on only groups of people who can choose their foods. From my experience, I have ever met the villagers in scarce area who have only chicken to maintain their life because it is hardly to grow the plant in that area. Therefore, there are still many places in the world which people have to eat meat inevitably. The last idea is the same idea that I mentioned before about health. We can see the pages that I bring to you about "Food Pyramid of the Month" which stated that we should eat meat.
