Mew's identity

My identity in person

First of all, my clothes can say lots of my identity because I'm like to dress up every morning so I will choose the clothes that suit me. On my weekend I usually wear a t-shirt and shorts because they comfortable for me to move. In contrast, when I go to school or study at AUA most of the time I have to wear a school uniform or jeans because of it more appropriate. I'm mostly wearing sneakers and don't like to wear high heels because it hard for me to walk. Next, my voice tone and body language make people thought that I'm unfriendly because I normally use a monotone voice to speak so people will think that I'm arrogant. Last, what I say mean so much to me because I'm a direct person and speak less. My close friends will know me well.

My identity online

My screen name on Facebook I use my first and last name and my avatar I use a photo of myself so it easy for my friends to know me. But on Instagram and Line I use my nickname. I usually change my avatar photo and I use Instagram more than other applications so I will post my photos and stories more than other apps. I like to share the photo that takes by myself. Sometimes I like to share the view of the beautiful place that I have visited and the photo of the things that I like such as food, pet, fashion, activities that I have done on that day and so on. However, on Facebook, I haven't posted anything so I don't have many friends on this application.

Conclusion: How accurately my online identity communicates who I am

To conclude, my online identity express myself like the things that I like the activities that I have done in each day. To make others that see my stories or my post know more about me. Most of the time I spend on Instagram to post the story of myself and I spend the time on my reality more than online because I thought we should focus more on the people in front of you more than the people on your mobile screen.

  1. I am not a person who enjoy dressing much. I pretty wear the same style every day when I go for work but I do enjoy looking at girls who love to dress up. The way people dress can tell who they are especially one who love dressing. Why I love to look at other girls who enjoy dressing ? It's because I love to see how they mix and match with color and style. Sometimes I adapt their idea to fit with my style. It helps me out when I dress myself since I have no fashion's sense. This habit enjoyed me when I walk on the fashion street and see other girls.

When Mew's wrote about Instagram it's trigger me something, first the she must be younger than me and second she must like to take pictures. As I am from the generation that Facebook was becoming popular. I am still using it until now, however, I used to try to use Instagram but I felt I don't know what picture I should take and post. It made me upset I had spent a very long time to think what I should do and it ended up by doing noting. I kept wondering how it is fun to keep seeing the others' photo. I really don't understand this platform and how to use it effectively so I don't enjoy using it at all. In contrast, this platform is really good for do a promoting or selling so I need to study and understand the logic of the platform to get benefit from this social media more effectively.

    1. I had had a similar idea to Naam's as I first read Mew's post telling us about herself in response to the questions on page 8 of Skillful. But I'm of an even older generation.

My nieces and nephews do seem to use Instragram a lot more than Facebook, but I'm still in the FB age. In fact, I only started using Facebook seven or eight years ago, and I have a total of 27 friends there. Maybe not using Instragram has saved me from the anxiety of not knowing what photographs to post. And like Naam, I have to admit that "I really don't understand this platform and how to use it effectively." So I don't.

Note: I used "quotation marks" because I copied and pasted Naam's exact words from her comment. We must use "quotations marks" every single time we copy and paste from a source. Not doing so is a serious crime. Universities won't care very much if you murder, steal, rape and so on, but plagiarism is an unforgivable crime. As we will see and practice this week, in academic situations, we constantly use other people's ideas, for support, to agree, to disagree, to give background, or whatever, and learning how to do this appropriately is an important academic skill, one that this week's mafor writing assignment will practice.
