Introduction
One of the most important functions which controlled the human body is the brain called "cerebrum". Cerebrum can be separated into two parts, which are a left-brain hemisphere and a right-brain hemisphere. Various scientific researches said that the left part manages about language and logical processing, while the right part operates human's emotions and arts. That is to say: human characteristics and lifestyles can tell which part of the cerebrum that we used frequently. For me, exactly, it should be a left-brain hemisphere that dominantly impacts my life because of the following reasons:
____________________________________
Body 1
First, analyzing a situation, and finding a suitable reason for everything that happens around me is really attractive. Since I was young, I preferred to play puzzle games (e.g., Sudoku, Tetris), or to spend my whole day doing a jigsaw puzzle or conducting a paper model. When I could complete the puzzle or pass any game stage, it fulfilled my happiness. Additionally, because my work is related to laws and regulations, logical thinking and argumentation skills can be easily improved. In my view, therefore, my left-brain hemisphere is developed as well.

Body 2
On the other hand, the right side of my cerebrum is not used frequently. The reason is I rarely connect with any art such as drawing and designing. Moreover, even working in legal practice help me to increase my reasonableness ability, it gradually drops an ability to express emotions because a lawyer should not show his feeling in his work. Unfortunately, my daily lifestyle does not support for improving my right-brain skills as well as I expected.
In my opinion, nonetheless, using only one side of the brain is not beneficial for the long-term. It will be better if people can balance the ability of both parts of their brains. Therefore, I tell myself that I have to improve my right-side cerebrum ability, along with my left-brain growth.

Conclusion
To conclude, I can call myself a left-brain hemisphere dominant person because of my daily activities and my character as described above. Developing language skills and logical thinking skills are more accessible for me than conducting arts or expressing my feelings. That is the reason why I think my left cerebrum dominantly influences my life more than another side.
Hi Yo,
ReplyDeleteI agree with you that it would be good for us to apply the two sides of our brain. I am not sure that whether or not being left-brained or right-brained is related to ability that people are born with. I would like to get rid of my limitation on being right-brained by do some activities that allow me to use my left brain hemisphere.
Some people say that talent is nature: it is something we are born with. However, I disagree with the idea—I believe that talent is nurture. Everyone can learn and improve new skills. I studied a local school in Thailand, and the internet was not available. In addition, the logistic or global transportations were not available. So it was difficult for me to find a good book to teach me to math. However, in the past few years, such services were available and now I can get good books that teach me that can teach me to learn math from America.
Thanks for your comment Emma.
DeleteHi YO,
ReplyDeleteAs your second paragraph about your left cerebrum, thanks for reminding me that I used to play Sodoku when I was young, I knew this game when my sister persuaded me to play with her. I'm pretty sure I very enjoyed this game, although, I does not play it anymore. So far it was a good game, it helped increasing logic skill in non-boring way. Moreover, I am also a left-brain person, even though, we are not in the same career.
As you mentioned about art and drawing, I would say I am not good at it either. I was curious why so many people who like math bad at art? But some of my friends who are good at math, and they are good at art as well. So I believe that there are many people who can balance two sides of their cerebrum.
