Is it possible to build wildlife-friendly windfarms?

Summary

Nowadays, many renewable energy resources were created to fight climate change. Wind farms are one of them, which produces a huge amount of clean electricity.  However, this form of clean energy is a double-edged sword because it leads to adverse consequences for wildlife, especially birds and bats. A lot of airborne animals collided with the wind turbines. Not only were the habitats of some creatures ruined but the surrounding ecosystem and food chain also had been intruded. Fortunately, there are some solutions to this situation. Firstly, Identiflight, a gadget for detecting the bird flight with high accuracy, will give operators time to shut down turbines. Therefore, the risk might be reduced. Another option is Acoustic Deterrents which generate the airspace aurally uncomfortable for bats to prevent them from the turbine blades. Nevertheless, location is the most important factor.

Response

The world has confronted with climate change for a long period. A majority of people might think that clean energy resources are a hero for this issue although some types of renewable energy resources lend to negative effects on the environment. The reason why I choose this 'Is it possible to build wildlife-friendly windfarms' article is for emphasizing awareness of the ecosystem. In fact, the ecosystem is extremely sensitive even though just a small change can spoil the habitats for wild creatures. The case of the Canadian wind farm in Prince Edward Island is an obvious instance.

Global warming leads to raising the average temperature and extreme weather. Such a phenomenon causes disruption of habitats, melting glaciers and other negative effects. Meanwhile, natural resources are predicted to run out in the near future. Global warming leads to raising the average temperature and extreme weather. Such a phenomenon causes disruption habitats, melting glaciers and other negative effects. Meanwhile, natural resources are predicted to run out soon. Many inventions were created to solve the energy crisis. Wind power stations are one of them which generates an amount of clear electricity by several hundred wind turbines. Wind parks release less pollution and have an environmentally friendly system nevertheless it doesn't contain only a positive aspect. The creation of a wind farm in Canada might an admiring for humankind meanwhile it might be a nightmare for wild animals. The colossal number of birds and bats killed by wind turbines has been recorded every year because the wind farm locates nearly to bird migration routes, feeding, and nesting areas.

Fortunately, scientists found some solutions for collisions of birds and bats. There are tiny gadgets to detach the bird's flight navigation and UAD devices to prevent bats from the dangerous zone of turbines however these gadgets do not seem practical. The best way to make wildlife-friendly wind farms is located in coastal areas. According to the article, offshore wind farms affect less on the natural habitat hence location condition is extremely important. The space for wind power stations is likely to be more narrow because we have to concern about the local ecology system.

To summarize, generating clean electricity has some limited and serious conditions which control the balance of human inventions and the environment: Therefore, renewable energy resources mightn't have sufficient for every household. Another way to reduce wildlife and ecosystem issues is energy conservation. We should consume less natural resources and powers to reduce effects on the environment.
