I am currently studying rehabilitation psychology but other than my major I am also interested in History, which I am not familiar of, and languages. It's kind of like stories that keep me interested in and make me wonder and find more. That is why I also like the Bible. I do not have any religious but I enjoyed reading the Bible itself. Language is another that I would like to spend time with.

I was interested in your reference to the Christian Bible, as you might have guessed from my own post below, Christianity, specifically the Catholic version, played a big role in my early life. My parents sent me to Catholic schools, first to nuns at St. Joseph's primary school near my family home, and then to a Marist Brothers' high school in the larger city nearby.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I no longer believe the religion, I also like to read the Bible, and last term in a class I teach, we read the first part of the first book of the Bible, which tells the story of creation according to the Jews and Christians, and also Islam. Whether we believe it or not, I think that those religions from the Middle East and their sacred texts have been very important in Western history and society, so it's useful to have some knowledge about them. And there is a lot of great writing in the Bible.
What's the turning point that you don't believe in the religion?
DeleteMost of an international schools, well not the school itself but the owners of the school was a Christian. I don't specifically know the history of that but because the owner and the staffs were Christian they actually made a subject for the overall view about Christianity that is the main reason I got to know about Bible and I quite like the subject even though I wasn't an actual believer if I have to say.
DeleteThe historical events did happened in that time and century. The Bible(the Christian Bible) and History do kind of connect and somehow have a relation which I found it interesting.
I don't really like remembering thing because I forget things easily but for history and those stuffs I think it is quite great finding information, reading things like that in my free time. It is a good way to spend time doing things I like and have no stress to it.
I like psychology. It makes me better know myself and others better. In term of rehabilitatin psychology, what are you studying in this subject?
ReplyDeleteI once want to read bible but unfortunately I could not find one.
I can't tell you the specific answer to it because this rehabilitatin psychology doesn't have much textbooks, books and sources as this class has just becoming popular in recent years but it is similar to social psychology, it focuses more and mainly on therapy. The patients that these people faces are not the one we know in the hospitals. They face people who isn't well inside out they help them to overcome and strengthen.
DeleteFor Bible, if I am not mistaken, mostly they are given in a Church. I heard that Bible is also available through an internet site or if you would like, there are some you can download to your device through app store.
Thank you Yoon for the helpful suggestion about reading the Bible. I usually read it on my tablet or phone these days, where I like the King James Version (KJV), but when I read a bit with a class last term, we used the New International Version (NIV), which is probably a bit more accurate, and whose language is a version of modern English.
DeleteThere are, as Yoon notes, many translations, and it is readily available online. One good online source is https://www.biblegateway.com/, which has two Thai versions available. It's all free.
The Internet is wonderful thing!
I like to understand human behaviors and I think psychology can reasonably help with that. I like to do a psychology tests that help me understand myself and my people.
ReplyDeleteAnother of my interest that help me understand people is Astrology and above of all, Astrology's kinda fun to learn hahaha.
Psychology might focus on behaviors and that but in deeper science is also needed. That is why when you study psychology you must begin learning about science, it is kind of boring and sleepy sometimes because we got to know the details and details might not be as fun as we think.
DeleteAstrology, I do not know much but I am quite interested to that topic. Astrology is not related to science and it is the matter of how you interpret well. It makes me feel excited and fun.
Can Rehabilitation phychology cure mental illness like depression and bi-polar disorder? I began to interest more about phychology because a lot of my surrounding people had mental illness from their strees life. I want to learn more how to cure in long run and protect me from getting sick as well. Hahaa
