'Boston Dynamic' who establishes a Robot dog spot, has launched a new modified prototype comprise of intelligence features to eradicate the former model's limitation. It permits the system to be controlled from long-distance through a web browser platform name 'Scout'. When a lacking signal occurring, the machine will retrace its steps back to the last location at which connection is available. Last year, 400 units were sold and used in business areas of construction, deep underground mines, and nuclear power plants. Prim's response to "Boston Dynamic Robot dog spot"

Boston Dynamic is a firm I have been followed the progress in technology and machine learning for years. The company represents Robotic function and advanced programming in machine learning to create a prototype of a Robot dog spot. The model develops year by year to the latest version which combined long-distance control mode, 1 m long useful arm, and its feature to stabilize the body's balance and flexible movement. In my opinion, its functions are not simple like they seem. Looking closely at Robot dog spot, their movement behaves similarly to a real dog. What surprises me is how it respond to obstacles. Their sensor and cameras allow them to analyze surface foundations and learning how to pass through and avoid solid structures. From my aspect in Long distance feature, it's needed to explicit abilities to work in an area such a confine space, place at which risk of explosion or gas leak even extreme condition such as a different planet. So now we can actually let robot dog does our work in a place not suitable for humans. My favorite feature of a robot dog is "self-right", which sets spot back on its feet if it falls over. Which is kind of amazing to watch. The permission to access the knowledge of this tech is priceless. That's why 2 months ago Hyundai have bought 80% share of the firm from the soft bank with the high price compared to other sold business. They said there is potential in business, and I believe that's true. But on the other hand, I’m worried about the purposes in the business field when it uses in the illegal or violent objective such as wars, military, or broking someone privacy. These can be very harmful. However, this robot creates an idea for me of what we can achieve in the future. In fact, what we have now already allowed us to collect the sample, take photos and explore the extreme condition on other planets. I found it very useful when it tends to replace what humans can do. I can’t probably avoid the thought that it going to be joining in our lifestyle soon.

Prim's question

What do you think is the greatest purpose this Robot dog Spot can achieve in the future?

1 comment:

  1. I'm glad that in her response Prim mentions the video that accompanies her summarized article. It really is fun to watch. I have to agree with Prim that the abilities that Spot already has are amazing. I haven't thought a lot about Prim's question, which we don't have to reply to anyway if something else interests us in the summary or response, but my first idea was that it's fun. It would make a super-cool toy, although the price tag, which Prim has not included in her summary, might rule it out for most families looking to for a special gift for their ten year old. I think that the ten year olds I know would all love it.

ANd that makes me wonder how safe it is around children, or what safety features have been built in.
