First of all, I brainstorm some ideas about the what are activities that I want to do in my room and what are colors or decoration patterns that I want to put in it. Then I draw a rough design of my room on the paper so I can organize what I have to prepare such as furnitures, curtains, wallpaper, lamps, carpet, picture frame, paint buckets and other tool that I need for making room decoration.

I do drafting by putting all furnitures into the position that follow my design drawing, and then walk around to review that every have already been put into the right place. After making sure that the layout of furnitures in fine, I start putting the decorative works, for example, painting the wall, hanging curtains, using the wallpaper and hanging picture frame. During making a decoration, I may revise some part of my work again as to make sure that the room really has a comfortable looking.

Finally, I publish my work by taking photos of my room and show them to my friends and listen to their opinion to my work. Another idea is inviting some of my close friends to spend a good time together in my new space.  

How to find the perfect partner online.

Everyone knows how difficult it is to find a true soulmate online. Piano notes improvisation

   First, I brainstorm ideas of how to improvise. For instance, I might change the key of the song to be matched with singers, or change music style, or use complicated techniques to make the song feel different from the old version. If there is a point that I would like to change, I will listen to the original song and compare to other people's improvisation to get ideas of what should be rearranged into my style.
   Second, I organize ideas I need to improvise notes using simple tools: music player, hard copy of original notes, piano or keyboard, and a pencil. For example, I use music player or the piano to play the original song and other versions while I look at the hard copy notes. At the same time, I judge the ideas from personal confidence and appropriation.
   To draft my improvised note version, I roughly mark parts on the hard copy of the song that should add more color. For example, mostly, the parts that should be rearranged are originally flat or simple. Then, I use a pencil to circle the parts that should be improvised and think about the techniques I should use in each part. After that, I play the improvised version based on the draft I marked on the copy and listen to it at the same time.
   Next, I review my piano notes by playing the version I have written again and listening to it at the same time to make sure that notes cover all melodies in the songs. Metronome is used to conduct the rhythm of the song that it is accurate.
   Following this, I revise my piano notes by adding some twists to the song if it is quite boring to surprise others and to make it as my own signature. For example, I love to use major7 chord to make the ending of the song to be a bit sad and questioning instead of perfect ending which audiences feel it is perfectly end. It is one of the technique to make a song feel more like jazz music.
   Finally, I am ready to publish my improvised piano notes. I play it and record for my friends to listen and give hard copy to my students who want to play. I keep the hard copy in the file, scan it into soft copy, and share it on my social networks.

Writing a business plan

Business plan is a statement of business goals and how to achieve these goals. It needs to have a clear vision and describe all of the business details, including: production plan, marketing plan and financial plan. Therefore, creative thinking is very important.

First of all, I brainstorm ideas about the objective, vision, mission and target of the business. I do research about: the business’s competitors, the client target group, the opportunity of this kind of business in the market and the financial analysis and forecasting.

Then, I organize the ideas and the knowledge from my research, in order to make it specific and clear. Every plan in the business plan needs to relate another plan. For example, if production plan has a strategy to increase its product line, the financial plan needs to plan enough money to support this change.

After that, I draft my business plan by writing the goal statement and the process to achieve this goal in every term of business, such as, financial, marketing, logistic, and production.

Next, I review my business plan by reading it and find the unrelated part to make sure that my plan is reliable. Moreover, I revise my plan by editing the content in the plan in order to make it concise and easy to understand.

Finally, I publish my business plan to person who has a business which suitable for my plan and people who would like to use my plan with their business

Setting up a schedule of training program

To set up a schedule of a training program, I firstly brainstorm ideas about what activities should be added into the program. For example, it should have a series of lecture, or a team-building game, or a set of talked show, or have them all.

After that, I organize the schedule. I check available time of lecturers and contact an organizer who runs the activities in order to I properly match time and activities. Then, I draft the itinerary.

To make sure that the program is viable, I review the program. Moreover, I send it to lecturers and organizer to get confirmation.  If they have any problems with it, I find out the solution and revise the program.

Finally, I am ready to publish my training program to all participants.

NAN: writing a statement of purpose

A statement of purpose is one of the most important elements of a Ph.D application. An applicant have to write a good statement of purpose demonstrating his goal, his achievements, and why a program must choose him among more than thousand applicants. 

After getting a scholarship, I dedicated myself to finish this 1000 words assay for a month using process writing as follows: 

First, I brainstormed what points should be written to express myself effectively. I jotted down as many ideas as I could come up with in a piece of paper.

I then organized my scattered ideas into four main paragraphs, which were an introduction of myself, a reason why I would like pursued my Ph.D in this program, my pass experiences and achievements, and long-term goals after I finished my Ph.D.

To draft an essay, I mostly used a free-writing technique to write each of paragraph follow my outline. 

I reviewed my assay whether I should add more information or delete irrelevant sentences. I also asked my friends to comment and check whether I should change anything.

After that, I revised my assay upon grammatical errors and inappropriate word used. I also changed some major points if necessary. 

Lastly, I published my statement of purpose into an application system, and preyed for the result.

Planning an adventure trip for my group

First of all, I and my friends need to brainstorm about a kind of activity we will choose to do, for example, hiking at a mountain in the northern part of Thailand, surfing on the beach in the southern part, etc.

After we choose the activity, I have to organize a date that I and my friend get a day off (a date is the most important part for every trip) and other information like the place we go, contact of agencies, detail of a base camp or a hotel for staying, flight ticket booking, etc.

Then, I draft my planning for this trip by using all information I have. It is necessary to think about what time that I can do the activities with my friend appropriately and when I have to come to a base camp or hotel.  

I review my trip and do not forget to send it to my friends in order to help me checking this plan for a trip.

I revise my trip plan by making some changes in accordance to every comment from my friends which is very useful for me. I add some missing details and correct my trip schedule to have more time to enjoy an activity.

At last, I publish my trip and send it to my friend for preparing ourselves for this trip. We are waiting for the date that we will do the adventure activity and hope that this trip will be fun and memorable.      

Planning a summer trip

Summer is a good season to spend time at a beach. Therefore, I plan to have a trip with my family at the beach in this season.

First of all, I brainstorm idea about interesting beaches in Thailand. I also search the information about the hotel, restaurant, activities as well as transportation. Besides, I also ask family members about their aim and opinion for this trip.

Organization is next step of this plan. I try to choose only one place that my family is interested most. I also decide how long this trip will take. Then I select accommodation, and entertaining programs.

After that, I draft the plan in each day of the trip. In each day, I will design the program to be favorable to all family members’ interests and appropriate to transportation.

Then, all members help to review our schedule thoroughly. We also help each other to confirm the hotel and flight that I book for our trip.

In addition, if some programs are not available, we will revise our plan. For instance, we will add or remove some activities.

Finally, I will publish the summer trip schedule to all family members. I hope that this plan will bring us to be successful in our trip.

Cooking my favorite dish, Thai sour soup

During this year, I learn how to cook my favorite Thai foods from my mother because I need to do them when I will be studying abroad far away from my lovely home and family. In cooking, I have to plan and do everything from scratch that I start with brainstorming, organizing, drafting, reviewing, revising, and publishing.

The first thing to do is brainstorming with my mother about what should we cook today since there are various kind of Thai foods. And I always cook only something that I really want to eat. After we come up with the conclusion about what I will cook, we then prepare and organize all ingredients required in cooking. Let’s say Thai sour soup, which is my most favorite dish among all. In cooking this soup we need water, dry red chilies, shallots, shrimp paste, tamarind paste, coconut sugar, fish sauce, winter melon or other vegetable that we prefer or being available at the time. Some vegetables are collected from my backyard. Then, we draft and put everything in the pot one by one at the right time. We also review our cooking menu by testing the taste of the soup. Most of the time we cannot just put everything in the cooking container orderly and expect that it will have the same taste or result each time we cook since the taste of fresh ingredients is always volatile according to many factors such as climate and soil in which the vegetables are planted. After reviewing, we revise by putting some ingredients to add some taste until its taste is similar as well as satisfy me.
Finally, the Thai sour soup is ready to be published, served on the table, and eaten by us!!!

A short description of the process of writing a memorial for moot court – a debate competition for law students.

First, I brainstorm legal issues that are possibly related to the case. For example, I could use search engine to find legal articles written by famous scholars, or search from previous jurisprudence made by the courts, or read commentaries on the applicable laws. 

Then, I organize issues that will make me win the case. For instance, judgments of the courts in the past that support my argument or can discredit my opponents’ reliability. 

To draft my memorial, I write my memorial using courts’ judgement in the past and other sources to support my submission and argument. 

I review my memorial by reading them objectively to see whether it sounds persuasive or not. Sometimes I ask my law school friends to look at my memorial and tell me their opinions without prejudice. 

I revise my memorial by making some changes. If there is any part that is not convincing enough, I will find additional evidence to strengthen my submission. If any part weakens my stance I will get rid of that part or make it less disadvantageous as possible. 

Finally, I am ready to publish my memorial to the moot court and all parties in the case. The court will read and decide the case based on my submissions and arguments in the memorial. 

Creating a website

When I was in university, I had a chance to create a learning website used by lecturers to manage their teaching more effectively.

The first step was brainstorming many functions needed to serve the purposes that many lecturers want from the website such as class registration, works grading, students grouping, and so on. I had to list what the website could do and how it solved those problems.

Next, the organizing step was trying to design the website to be as much easy to use as possible. Moreover, my friend who was a web designer help me customize it to look modern and attractive.

I drafted my website with sample codes I wrote to see how it worked.

Then, I reviewed the website by using it and recorded all errors happened from this chunk of codes. I also distributed it to my close friends to find more other bugs.

With more information, I revised the website to make a better version. I repeated this step again and again to make sure the website could work efficiently until it was ready to publish.

Finally, the website was tested by many lecturers and students and published to use in the university.

TON : Making a flyer for advertising AUA courses.

First, I brainstorm ideas about how to promote the AUA courses. For example , the purpose of this advertisement, or the details that I need to convey, or the strategies that I need to use to convince the reader to apply for the courses including the message that I need to tell them. I can simply make a concept map to extract the ideas for this flyer.

Then, I organize the components of the flyer.  I need to consider what should be in the flyer : picture , words, detail, and price.

To draft my flyer, I use Photoshop software to create a flyer. I choose a photo of cute students using as a background  then type some words that will convince the reader.

I review my spelling and the details. If there is a mistake, I need to correct it. Then I will print out or send an email to my colleague to help me to review it.

If my friends say that the font is too formal for the advertisement, I will revise a flyer by making a few changes. I can use a stylish font to make the flyer more interesting.

Finally, I am ready to publish my flyer. I print it out and make copies. Now it’s time to promote an AUA courses!

Carrots planting

Firstly, I brainstorm my ideas about what conditions that carrot seeds like and how to grow its. Because plants are different from each other and they need specific things to live. For example, some of them always live in water, some like soil which contain of clay particles and another may like hot weather.  

After that, I prepare objects such as a planting box with 20x20x20 cm³, a bag of black soft soil, a dig and a package of carrot seed for organizing the carrot’s pot. Then, I draft my pot by put the soil in the box 15 cm. above the bottom. Next, I dig into the soil’s surface for 1 cm. deep and put the seed is that small hole. Then, closing the hole and watering.

I review them in two or three days later because carrot’s seeds need time to germinate. Then, I revise some of them which grew up too close with each other to separate and to have a space between them. If there are yellow leafs, I will take them out carefully.

Finally, I can publish my organic carrots by my own small farm from my box. I strongly believe that they will have the best natural test of carrots.  

Making a lovely bouquet of flowers

To make a flower bouquet ,I start with brainstorming creative ideas. I design on a paper about what kind of flowers, colors, and others materials that I will use to make the bouquet. This helps me to have a clear image of my colorful bouquet.
After having a vivid picture of what I want to create, I organize materials and flowers that I intend to use to make a bouquet. For example, white flowers are my favorite. I usually use flowers like lilies, roses, and gardenias. I also prepare another materials such as a vase, oasis, and decorating leaves.
Then drafting the bouquet, I use the biggest flowers such as Lilies as a center of the bouquet and add some more smaller flowers as a frame. Following by adding many leaves to make a contrast color with the flowers and make it more interesting.
I review my bouquet by put it on the table at the center of the room. I consider it from many perspective especially color and balance.
Next, I revise my bouquet by making some adaptation. I always add some more gypsos and leaves to cover oasis and make it closer to perfection.
Lastly, my lovely bouquet is ready to exhibit. I put it on dining table where my beloved family members can enjoy it beauty.

Painting a picture

First, I brainstorm ideas about what should I put into the picture. I might surf the internet to find information about popular trend of paintings, and the composition of sample paintings. For example, if I would like to paint a still life painting, I will find what objects I should put into my picture. But if I would like to paint a perspective painting, I might find my favorite photos of the scene I want to paint.

Then, I organize my ideas by drawing a sample painting which is much smaller than the real one, in black and white, to analyze the composition of the whole picture. Then prepare tools I need to use to paint, for instance, a set of brushes, a pencil, markers, and painting mask.

To draft my paintings, I use a pencil to sketch on the real canvas, following my sample painting but put more detail into it. After I finish sketching, I start water coloring the picture, from pale colors and darker colors accordingly, for example, I use pale yellow, and sky blue colors first, then follow by ochre yellow and prussian blue after.

Next, I review my picture by looking at it and think how should I put more detail. I might send the picture to ask my friend for more ideas. After I've reviewed it, I revise it by making few changes, for example draw more details, and paint more colors to make the picture looks darker.

Finally, after everything looks fine, I publish my picture on the website, e.g. DevianArt, or my personal blogs.

It's not Hannibal, but ...

I'm not in the same league as Hannibal Lecter, but I love giving dinner parties, although not so much or so elaborately these days.

I might finish this one later, after I've seen your descriptions here describing the steps of brainstorming, organizing, drafting, reviewing, revising and publishing as they apply to your chosen creative processes. I haven't had lunch yet. 

The publication of my dinner party is, of course, the arrival of my guests and our sitting down to demolish what I've spent days preparing! Successful publication is when everyone leaves stuffed a few hours later.

When I used to be creative: making a shirt

Many years ago when I was living in Australia, I supplemented my income by designing and making custom clothing. As I was walking home after class this afternoon, with our somewhat rushed brainstorming of creative processes still in my head, a very useful idea popped up: making a shirt.

When I used to do this, the first step was brainstorming such things as what colours would be appropriate and attractive, what material to use, the buttons, and such major details as the style of collar, the sleeve  length, and so on.

Next, I went shopping at one or two suppliers in central Sydney. I bought material, silk, cotton or linen, in the colour decided on. This was all the organizing step. I also got thread in a matching colour, and another step in organizing was setting aside time.

There were two distinct steps in drafting: first, I drew up a careful pattern on paper.

With the pattern ready, I would revise. Did I really want the sleeves to come down to almost cover my hands? Would my customer like the thin collar? If I was making something for a customer, I involved them in the review stage, asking what they thought about the colour, the material and so on.

When we had made any necessary revisions to the paper pattern, I went on with drafting part II: making the shirt. When it was finished, there was another session reviewing to make sure everything was right. Were the buttons in the right places? Were they a good match for the fabric? Were there any seams not quite flat as I liked them? And revise: get rid of that thread sticking out at the collar! The last step in revising was to wash and iron it so that the finished piece of work looked its best, with no annoying grammar mistakes or badly chosen words.

Finally, it was ready. I published my shirt. I put it on and went out. Or I gave it to the person who had commissioned it. If it got admiring comments, the publication was successful!

A creative process: lunch with Ea

My friend Yo has an eight-year-old son, Ea. We often meet for lunch, and when I was brainstorming creative processes to write up in answer to Zemach, Broudy and Valvona's concluding activity for chapter 1 of Writing Research Papers, I realised, which I had not before, that I did spend some time on the process of planning a day with Ea.

First, I have to brainstorm ideas on where we might go, what we might do. Obvious things are should we meet at my home, his home or somewhere else? Where? At Paragon? At the Erawan Hotel? Eating usually features on the day's activities: what kind of food? Where? How much? Other things to brainstorm include who to invite and possible special activities. Should we invite Scott to join us, or just keep it to me and Ea's family? Are his brothers available?

To organize, I usually decide first where we will go. That's similar to deciding on a main idea. If we meet at Paragon, that suggests a different outline of activities to meeting at my home on Silom. At Paragon, the organization has to fit in a visit to the toy department, whereas if at home, we can include watching a new DVD together, or playing some online games. I generally lose, but that doesn't seem to worry Ea.

Next, I draft the plan. I call Yo and Ea to tell them the main parts of what I've planned: where and when we will meet.

Reviewing means I consider things like the cost of each part: and how well they fit together. Do we really need to visit the oyster bar in the Paragon supermarket after a large meal at Fuji? How much much raw seafood in one day does even an eager eight-year-old boy need? When we're in the supermarket, is there anything else we need to think about? Some cheeses for home? A nice selection from the soup counter? A visit to the sushi bar is mandatory if we're at Paragon.  Asking for their input about what and where is also part of the review step.

Sometimes I make a major revision because something comes up requiring a change of time or place. For example, I sometimes realise that I'll need to spend more time reviewing student work, so we have to cut a couple of activities, perhaps skip the visit to Kinokuniya bookstore. And I like to leave the plan open to revising from moment to moment. Other times, my current bank balances dictate some revision: I prefer Fuji or a nice hotel, but there are advantages in opting for something like McDonalds. Last week, Ea called to with a review suggestion in the other direction: we had agreed on lunch at Burger King, but he thought Fuji would be better. So, we made that revision and agreed to cut the oyster bar.

Finally, I send an SMS or FB message to Yo and Ea telling them when and where to meet. This publishes my plan. It's public now and can't be taken back. (At least not without a very good reason.) Or is publishing actually meeting up and doing the eating, shopping or whatever, complete with last minute review and revisions?

• Imagine that you have been asked to write a 500 word essay on a topic that is familiar to you.

ZBV: questions on essays - 1. Reasons. Group 3

In their first exercise, on page 2 of Writing Research Papers, Zemach, Broudy and Valvona (ZBV) ask us to share our ideas on a couple of discussion questions on essays (2011).

I'm sure we have all written essays before, and the purpose of chapter 1 of ZBV is, as the title clearly says, to review the essay. However, for reasons that will become apparent later today or tomorrow, I think it will be more productive for us to turn Zemach, Broudy and Valvona's opening discussion from a small face-to-face group discussion into an online discussion, which is what we are doing here now.

Eve's academic interests

I'm interested in communication. I took some journalism and mass communication courses when I was a sophomore and I found that I did it very well. After I finished my bachelor degree, I started my working life as a Human Resource Development. I did it for four years. It was very interesting but it's not me. Now I'm working as an information officer for the Government Public Relations Department of Thailand. I have a chance to use my communication skill again and I really love it. I have worked in this field for three years. Fortunately, I got a scholarship to do a master degree in Communication Management. This is a good opportunity to improve my communication skill. Finally,  I feel like getting back on track.

Moreover, I'm also interested in psychology.
