I'm sure we have all written essays before, and the purpose of chapter 1 of ZBV is, as the title clearly says, to review the essay. However, for reasons that will become apparent later today or tomorrow, I think it will be more productive for us to turn Zemach, Broudy and Valvona's opening discussion from a small face-to-face group discussion into an online discussion, which is what we are doing here now.
So, let's go. In a comment, quickly write down your ideas in response to the following question, which I've revised slightly from what we find in ZBV.

Students write essays because they have to do their homework or their assignments and they demonstrate their ideas or their opinions. Moreover, they need to show their preferences that they agree or disagree.
ReplyDeleteIn my point of view, writing essay is a way to accurately communicate with a large amount of people through words. Writer can also express their feelings by using specific words. Writing is essential for university students because it can help professor to check students' understanding by let them writing instead of an interview. Also it is important for other people who are not students because it is a way to communicate with a lot of people accurately.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, writing essay obviously can show students idea. This is no right or wrong to answer any questions. Moreover, this can help them to organize their thought in order as well as improve their communication skill. In case of people, this also help them to improve their writing skill. Writing will build their vocabulary capacity.

Secondly, writing essay is literature. It can be an important evidence more than speaking. You can come back to read what you write and think about it again. This is very useful in Business world. People need believe in literature more than just a word.
In summary, these are why people who are not student write essay.
Because of appearance of their works, they should to write essays. Essays are things that can tell other people about their researches clearly. If they need others to understand their thought, they should write essays with systematic process to know where information that readers can found.
