I'm sure we have all written essays before, and the purpose of chapter 1 of ZBV is, as the title clearly says, to review the essay. However, for reasons that will become apparent later today or tomorrow, I think it will be more productive for us to turn Zemach, Broudy and Valvona's opening discussion from a small face-to-face group discussion into an online discussion, which is what we are doing here now.
So, let's go. In a comment, quickly write down your ideas in response to the following question, which I've revised slightly from what we find in ZBV.

The reason that the students write the essay is that they need or are requested to conclude or determine the things they had learned or known from their studies or researches. By summarizing, analyzing and comparing or contrasting the issues the they were assigned, it is necessary skill for their's future career.
ReplyDeleteEssay is one of the communications to express to the readers but its is not just a writing. We need to put our thoughts or ideas systematically. So university students who are literate should express their thoughts via essays.
ReplyDeleteAlmost the university students write essays about their academic field for pursue their academic degree (sound like a mandatory), however, others who are not a student write assays for their work (such as journalist, etc.) or social network to share their feeling or opinion on such an issue.

writing the essays help people to organize their idea clearer and help others understand what's he/she thinking. So it is very important for student to write essays as it help teacher and students themselves understand their idea which will lead them to a discussion and receive the new knowledge. This idea is also apply to people who aren't student as well.
