I'm sure we have all written essays before, and the purpose of chapter 1 of ZBV is, as the title clearly says, to review the essay. However, for reasons that will become apparent later today or tomorrow, I think it will be more productive for us to turn Zemach, Broudy and Valvona's opening discussion from a small face-to-face group discussion into an online discussion, which is what we are doing here now.
So, let's go. In a comment, quickly write down your ideas in response to the following question, which I've revised slightly from what we find in ZBV.

Students and other people may need to express their thoughts. An essay is a systematic writing which makes readers understand the writer's thought easier. University students may write longer essays in their specific area of studies, such as theses, reports.

ReplyDelete- I think that students need to write essays is mainly because those essays reflected the student thought. And those thoughts can be shared for professors or classmates to read.
What are some reasons people who are not students write essays?
- For a very similar reason to the students, to share their idea or thought to others.
First, writing essays can help students to organize their idea, What students got from classes may be very fragmented so put them together in a piece of paper can be beneficial.

- I think writing is the best way to convey what people think. Writing an essay is a good medium to publish our own ideas and share many new innovative thoughts leading to further developments.

I think the main reason why university student or other people write essays is that writing essays is an excellent way to share opinions and attitudes about whatever topics to others. Writing massages can exist for long time.

I think both university students and other people write essays to organized their ideas into paragraphs. There are lots of information that are entangled in their heads. Writing essays helps them keep record and they can look back again whenever they want.
