Do it immediately? Or procrastinate?

What I read
In his paragraph "Life as I choose", Den writes that "There is a good thing being lazy." This suggested a point I thought worth brainstorming.

What do you think about procrastination? Students are often told not to procrastinate, but is this always the best course?

  1. Although I thought he could usefully make it a bit clearer, I liked Den's point that laziness has its advantages, even virtues. But I was more interested in procrastinating, in "Delay[ing] or postpon[ing] action; put[ting] off doing something" as the Oxford Dictionaries website defines it.

This started when I watched what you did in the in class writing we did on Tuesday morning. Almost everyone started writing their paragraph within two minutes of my posting the assignment. One person took almost four minutes to start his answer, and I'm pretty sure that that helped his paragraph.

I think it can sometimes be very good to delay acting because it gives us more time to think. I thought most of your paragraph would have benefited from delaying the start of writing to spend more time thinking of connections between the large number of ideas you had on your topic of the three types of your identity.

    1. In fact, even if it felt like you were wasting time, it would probably have helped to resist the temptation to start writing your paragraph. You had a lot of time, and ten minutes spend on the three planning steps of the writing process, guided by the instructions and our class discussion, would probably have strengthened your ideas.

Not to worry: you get to revise today.

  2. I'm not sure that is procrastinate a bad things. However, most of the time procrastination is a bad habit. If you like procrastinate and repeat it again and again, many things in your life will be hard to manage and many people will less trust on you.

  3. In my view, although I think lazy can be good but procrastination is another story. I think it's good to be lazy from time to time. However, the restriction of time will force us to work under stress in the end. This will help us work more effectively and improve our time managing skill. Not procrastinating might not be the best course in some circumstances. For example, when jobs needed to be done are too many. It might be more efficient to work more focus and more dedicated not only to make it passable.

  4. In my opinion,I think procrastination is a terrible thing. If students procrastinate their homework, they will be bad students. However, sometime in order to relax themselves, their can choose to do something by themselves.
