Is hydrogen the future of motoring?

This news reminds me of an experiment in the high school that extracts oxygen and hydrogen from the water. At that time, I really was excited with the experiment. Now, I am really enthusiastic that we can make use of hydrogen in the reality. Hydrogen is renewable sources, clean and cheap. Today, oil prices are vary fluctuated and tend to increase incessantly. Hydrogen is a new alternative energy and I hope that this technology would come in my country soon.

According to "Is hydrogen the future of motoring?". The first public refueling station for hydrogen vehicles in Swindon, U.K. is an important step to make hydrogen vehicles a viable alternative to petrol-driven cars. Hydrogen-powered cars depend on a fuel cell that takes oxygen from the air and combines it with hydrogen from a tank to create electricity for driving electric motors. Professor Kevin Kendall, a hydrogen and fuel cell expert from Birmingham University, says that a hydrogen car is much cleaner than a conventional car and this technology will clean up their cities enormously. According to Dr Zetsche, rolling out the infrastructure will not be cheap, but it might be a more cost-effective solution than the creation of a battery recharging infrastructure for conventional electric cars. As Madslien notes, the energy which is used to create electricity or hydrogen will either need to be created in nuclear power plants or from renewable energy sources such as hydropower or wind farms in order to be zero emissions motoring.

This technology has advantages in many aspects such as health, economy and environment. First, the air pollution is the severe problem in many cities around the world, and most problems are resulted from using cars in each day. Hydrogen-powered cars can solve this problem directly. On the other hand, people do not have to spend a lot of money curing their respiratory diseases. Second, when this technology were widely used, the world economy would not depend on oil prices anymore and the prices of products related to petrol would be decreased as well. Moreover, hydrogen filling will be much cheaper than oil because hydrogen are innumerable and easy to find in the world. Finally, this technology also helps reduce amount of carbon dioxide resulting in global warming. This problem has an impact on every life on Earth. Therefore, by using this technology, it not only benefits human lives but also helps other lives on Earth live happily. For these reason, although it is too expensive to implement infrastructure in the first place, it will be worthwhile in the long term.

  1. Great!
Using Hydrogen-vehicles can be help our earth avoid Global Warming problems enormously.

Electrical energy generated in the new car by reversing process of separating water that using external electrical source, right?

So hydrogen and oxygen must have be pure 100% to produce or not? or just pull from air.

  2. Sorry Kwang, I may make you confused in my introduction - -". Electrical energy isn't generated in the car by reversing process of separating water but it takes oxygen from the air and hydrogen from its tanks.

  3. Oil price fluctuated widely and the trend was down ward. However, sometime in the future oil price will be increasing. Hydrogen car is the ideas for life in the future cleaner, cheaper and reduce air pollution.

  4. I'm glad that new options are being introduced to continue supporting increased economic growth and richer lifestyles for more people. And less damage to the environment is a good thing, too.

  5. I think another benefit of the hydrogen vehicle is a reduced need of oil.
We are living in the world where people depend on oil consumption too much, so OPEC (Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries) plays a major role to direct almost economic trends.
If a hydrogen innovation becomes successful, the global economy will be free from oil traders.

  6. I'm looking forward to the day we succeed in harnessing fusion energy - that will solve all our energy problems for a few million years. And the energy provided will support enormous economic growth for everyone.

I think humans should be investing a lot more to make this happen sooner.

  7. That sounds GREAT! I think, it will help to reduce Global Warming Crisis and world financial crisis from reduced oil using. I like this innovation!
