Eat More Processed Meat: Cause of Die Young

Eat More Processed Meat: Cause of Die Young

Nowsdays eating processed meat such as suasages, ham, bacon or porkball is very common found almost everywhere including Thailand.Young people prefer eating fast food because of their lifestyle without any health concern that if they eat regalary, it might lead to health problems.

According to James Gallagher writhig in "Processed Meat 'Early Death' Link", high processed meat and preserve red meat appear the risk of cancer, cardiovascular disease and early death which found by a study of half a million people across Europe. The main cause of health damage comes from there are contain preservative, salt, or other chemical(2013).

Apart from Gallagher's article, They have an evidence to show that eating a lot of processed meat such as bacons, sausages, ham are likely a cause of many diseases; for example, colon cancer, and heart disease so it leads to die young because most of these food use both salt and presservative. I agree with this article because these food are contain a bit fiber but rich in salt with leads to damage consumer health. Although, they seem are cause of above disease, most of them would happen with people who eating too much and long time also there are other many serious risk factors involved such as genetic, smoke habbit, or stress coping as well.

What is red and processed meat?

In case of people who eat less fiber for long time seem increase colon cancer rate which is often found in health magazine that I read before and is found in this article as well. In addition, Thai young people likely to face with obesity problem more and more everyday because they like eating fast food becuase it is very convenience and can find almost every corner of the street. Most of them have these food as well.Unfortunately I think in Thailand they not concern or do not publish any research about the serious effect of processed food to health condition. Moreover, they are plenty of advertising to persuade young people to buy this food in televation, internet or even on the sky train station. I think when they eat instant food including suasages, ham or becon for long time without do any work out propery it seems tend to high cholesterol in their blood so they risk to get cardiovasular disease such as heart attack which is one cause of death early.

  1. Pin,
I like your summary of the facts and useful response. It is clear that these sorts of food cause serious social problems and harm many people, especially young people.

Do you think the government should make these foods illegal because they are unhealthy and harm people use them and harm society by increasing medical costs, reducing productivity and so on?

Or is this not a good reason to make these tasty foods illegal and throw the producers and dealers into prison because they are causing a serious social problem?

    1. I do not think the govenment should make these foods illegal because they are unhealthy or harm people or soceity. It won't not harm young people if they don't eat too much so they won't make medical costs increase. How do you think if our govermnent make these food illegal? If you want a nice American breakfast sometime and the waitress says" sorry sir,we can not serve you because of suasages, ham, and bacon are not available in Thailand, it is illegal here" How do you feel? I mean especially who is foreigner. Moreover, these company or factory will protest or fight the government so it leads to a big problem. However, I focus on they should control advertising on these food also provide education to those young people and teenager to aware in what they eat and avoid eating these food often. I never seen our government mention this problem at all.

  3. These days, life is easier but it might not mean better. We can find many restaurants or supermarkets easily along the streets. There are so many choices out there especially fast food. It costs relatively little and tastes good. Also, its television commercial slogan is catchy and stick in my head.

I used to eat it every week, but now I've slowed down on my fast food intake. Thanks to this kind of articles, it really helps me to determine what I should eat and what I should not.
