  1. I agree with you, there is so much information coming from abroad and it is not published in Thai. Since I have been learning English and I have learnt a lot about many things that I did not know before. I have been trying to read global news on BBC and CNN.

  2. I agree with you, too. English is the most common word in the world. It is very good tool for us to know about what we want, what we are interested in, etc...

  5. Yes, you are right. English is now ubiquitous in Thailand. I could say it's impossible to not be exposed to single English in a daily life; it is quite everywhere. Even the coming AEC, English is escalated to be even more important. I'm so glade that I choose the right path but still need to work more, though

  6. And do you share Nori's passion for literature? I'm thinking of reading a classic short novel from modern English literature this term for some extra extended reading practice.
I'd also like us to read an essay from economics, and we might not have time to do both. Decisions, decisions.

As the teacher, I'm allowed to be a dictator when choosing materials for our class, but I try to accommodate student interests, which is why we start the term with activities like this, which also help us get to know each other as we practise writing English for fluency and learn some useful modern technology.

    1. My late afternoon coffee just ran out, and I still have a couple of blog posts to comment on.
More coffee? Or continue blogging without coffee?

    2. Too much caffeine will probably damage your brain cells. My suggestion is change to a super spicy Tom Yum soup. That should help solve the problem and on the bright side, you will have a full stomach.

    3. Actually, the solid evidence seems to be that coffee is healthy for us, much healthier than things like green tea.
A useful summary of the recent scientific evidence is in Aaron E. Carrol's article in The New York Times "More Consensus on Coffee’s Benefits Than You Might Think"(2015, May 11).

I think my two or three large, strong cups a day are probably OK, certainly healthier than many other drugs that people get addicted to.

    4. I was proofreading your revised paragraphs with my third coffee today, but proofreading is more demanding than blogging. My coffee became cold as I was concentrating much more carefully than I need to for blogging.

    1. The BBC News, and most of listed sources, has a Science section. I found something fascinating in the Science section this morning. I might blog it later, but worry that someone else might have chosen it - but first to publish gets it!

And it is afternoon coffee time on my day off.
