My Yes/No question is:
Can the domino’s pizza market against to be a well-known brand for Thai people?
My answer is:
No, the domino’s pizza cannot market against to be a well-known brand for Thai people. (at this period). From my point of view, it has various limitation to expand franchise in Thailand. Domino's pizza is American pizza, they have reputed delivery on time, that's good. But not for Thai people because by the nature of Thai people more like to cook, eat in their house or go outside to restaurant or shopping mall. Contrast with UK people who love to order pizza or fast food on online channel. Moreover, taste of Thailand is herbs, not much rich while Domino's pizza cannot get exactly answer in this, so it is a weak point. For example, from my experience, Pizza's company has Tomyumkung flavor in the menus, and it is the favorite one flavor of Thai people cause this taste is a regional cuisine.

I thought Jom develops good supporting reasons for her idea that Domino Pizza is unlikely to thrive in the Thai market, but I'm not sure I agree. I thought that in a rapidly changing Thai society, they might have a chance. The small markets, street vendors and the like seem to be disappearing, and this might combine with changing habits to allow Domino a chance. It is not very long ago that people in teh UK and US did not order home delivery either, but with the enabling technology in place, it very quickly became popular. I think the same could easily happen in Thailand. However, it's very hard to predict the future in advance - perhaps Jom's prediction is the right one and mine is wrong.

DeleteNo one knows the future, it could be "yes" or "no" all time, but one thing that I think it would not change is a climate; Thailand is so so so hot! Then, Thai people need to find some place where colder plus faster in food (for who want to eat out). Conflict with the UK or US climate, where has a terribly cold, then they always order food by delivery to eat in.
DeleteBut who will know, in the future, technology may changes the human habit, give them love more convenience - your though maybe is the answer.
Domino Pizza is the best!!!
ReplyDeleteI don't think I've ever had them. My favourite pizza shop is in Australia - I always visit on my visits to see the family. Mmmm ... pizza ... wood fired ... lamb and mozzarella ... mmm.
DeleteIt's a good thing I'm full of seafood today.
Actually, after we ate lunch, my friends and I bought some Narai Hotel pizza on the Silom street market - I strongly do not recommend Naria Pizzeria products. The pastry was inedible and we all threw it away. I'm sure that Non is right about Domino Pizza when compared to Narai Pizzeria, but we sometimes get Scoozi, and they are pretty good. Are Domino pizzas better then Scoozi? Who has the relevant experience to make that comparison for us?

DeleteFor me, Lunta Pizza is the best of the best!! This brands is a treasure of who is a cheese lover. you must try!
DeleteI am not sure about in Thailand, but I wish it could. When I was in Panama, there also pizza shops, but most of them I saw were Domino's. In the city I was in, there was just a shop for Pizza Hut whereas there were many of Domino's Pizza.
ReplyDeleteAs Thai people are accustomed to well-known brands, like Pizza Hut and Pizza Company, it would be very hard for Domino's, which doesn't advertise much, to compete with them. But I believe that it would at last be able to compete with others.
