  1. I never watch TV so I won't change that.
And I'm not fond of cocoa, so I won't make any changes there. Happily, later research supports the health benefits of my decades long addiction to coffee, so I'll be continuing that happy condition.
I think I get enough sunshine on my walks to and from AUA, so that's taken care of - although I don't have much need for pain reduction, a few more chemicals in my brain that result in a happier mood sounds OK.
Voting? I haven't voted for years. When I stopped living in Australia, it was easier to have my name removed from the voting lists. I don't think I'll go and sign up at my embassy for overseas voting in Australian elections. The trouble is that under Australian law, voting is compulsory if you are on the list of voters, and that means I have problems if I forge to go to the embassy to vote. It's easier, and I think less stressful, not to vote at all. I can still have my voice heard on Australian issues, and that is enough to keep my happy.

I would love to get more sleep ... but how to do it?

  2. If they said the sunlight is good for health, then I should do activities outdoor between the day more often. I should go exercise in the morning or the evening rather than the early night. Lately, I get used to run in the late afternoon not because of avoiding the sunlight but the cooler weather. So, Changing the schedule to the daylight time should improve my mood and maybe ease my pain after an exercise without using any drugs. That sounds fantastic!

  3. With knowledge from these study, I intend to take care of my self more than ever by sleep well and less watching television.

Because I want to protect my brain and gain more attention from less watching telvision.

Moreover, although I know that voting is good for mental health, I insist not to vote for anything because it increase my stress rather than reduce it a lot.

  4. Some facts of those studies changed my lifestyle, for example, I often sleep after I studied or mid-day for half-hour, Moreover, I had been drink cocoa instead of diary products. On the other hand, some facts don't affect any my lifestyle.

    1. I like your idea of sleeping at midday. If I don't have a class in the afternoon, I often do the same. If I do have a class, I often have a short nap, perhaps 30 - 40 minutes, when I get back home.
Sometimes I don't take a nap, and I end up falling asleep over my keyboard, or my mouse dropping dramatically onto the floor - that always me up. I think it's probably better to go and lie down on my bed and have a proper sleep for a short time.

Like Ae, I also worry about my brain and its function, especially now that I'm approaching an age where things start to deteriorate - there is only so much that coffee can do to prevent the inevitable deterioration that comes with age, and I'm sure that regularly getting more sleep is a good thing, although perhaps not the 12 hours a day that Non enjoys.

    2. I also would like to sleep at midday. But for many reasons, I just can't lay on my bed and go into the deep sleep I like.

  5. After I read this research, I think, there is some discover is easy to do like "hot cocoa", it makes me want to drink for health. On the other hand, these articles might not change anything in my life because I'm still not facing with those problems.

    1. Jom you are the luckiest and disciplined person ever if you never faced that kind of problems of daily life. Because it's kind a common problems if u don't sleep enough or you watching tv uncounciously that it affects on your attention.

  6. Some of that research really might change my life style, for example research about the hot cocoa. Actually I try to avoid that kind of drinks , such as cocoa or coffee. I never thought that it contains the powerful antioxidants that quite helpful for our health to fight cnacer or prevent any heart disease . So now i intend to drink it once a day at least.

    1. Yes, I agree. I usually try to avoid cocoa because it contains lots of sugar and anything with lots of sugar seems to be bad for me but now I think I will drink more cocoa.

    2. I wonder then what you had drunk so far. I like green tea, black tea, coffee, cocoa in my daily life to enjoy, but not cola. In every opportunity these drinks give me the different pleasures to enjoy. So I drink those in the feeling of the day.

    3. Cheese's comment reminds me that I enjoy a tea I would normally avoid when I'm visiting my mother and whoever's at her home. It's family ritual and that makes it enjoyable. Another one is visit to the local Chinese restaurant in my mum's favourite gambling place (her local lawn bowls club), which is pretty awful, but again, it's value comes from other aspects than the actual food.

I usually stay at my brothers home, and I make sure he's well stocked with the coffee that I like and need.

  7. The only one that might make me change my lifestyle is drinking cocoa. Normally, I drink at least two cups of coffee (with sugar) a day to help me keep less sleepy. Yet, I would try to drink cocoa more in order to get powerful anti-oxidants to prevent me from the risk of being suffered from cancer, heart disease and aging.

I suppose that eating habits and lifestyle of people in modern society have changed so much toward unhealthy conditions. Thus, it would be good if I can eat or drink the beneficial food and beverage. Eating to live is better than living to eat. I think so.

I'll try it in this afternoon. But, I'm not sure where I should buy one. Could you suggest me the good place for buying delicious cocoa.

    1. The best one in town is "Jae Muay" at the "Tha Pra-chan" pier next to Thammasat university. There lies the very rich coco smoothie at very reasonable price. Maybe a little bit too far from here but if you've tried, you'll know it's worth for traveling.

    2. I wonder if rich chocolate cake counts as a cocoa source?

  8. I don't think that it would be able to change anything in my life. Since I know that sleeping is beneficial for the body a long time ago, it would have changed since that time. But when I get free days, I would usually sleep until the afternoon of each day.

For voting, I would have voted if the governmental system doesn't corrupt. As Thai system is quite well-known for the corruption and cheating, I am not going to vote until the system becomes justified and neutral. By the way, voting doesn't affect me because it's my desire to vote or not. It's better if the person has their rights to choose whether or not to do things.

    1. I agree, it is your decision to vote or not but to me, I would rather still vote as it is still our responsibility to do so as a citizen of one's country. Even if you hate the government you can still VOTE NO and I think it is better choice for this case

    2. I think so.

    3. I think you should sleep more than ever.

Although you have a lot of work to do, sleep really can increase working of your brain and save your working time a lot.

  9. Actually even having known the good effect of cocoa or chocolate, it can be only a good excuse when I have it, and I have to be still careful for over eating of it as it contains a lot of sugar. However, the pleasure of eating of chocolate is now expanding with the reasonable reason of health and it will work to my brain and also health more than before.

  10. No, I might not. I will still sleep 12 hours a day without caring whether the research might affect me or not. I will still drink hot cocoa - depending on my mood. I will still go for voting without caring whether it improves my mental health or not. I will still not go for sunbathing even if I know the benefits of doing so. All this research is not really logical to our very modern day life. If given a chance, I will still do things that I like, not what is good or bad for my own health. Additionally, this study is just conducted in only a few universities and it is still controversial across the whole world. Who knows that in future, hot cocoa may cause cancer instead of enhancing our physical health? Our world is uncertain, what we think might be correct now but not to the future. As the saying goes, "YOLO: You Only Live Once', enjoy our lives, do not change it because of unreliable research.

    2. you sleep 12 hours a day!!

this information surprose me a lot.

    3. I agree with you! I would rather do whatever I like to do. I believe that it improves mental health even better than anything. I don't actually care about the studies, it's happier for me to just stay who I am and how I do things. By the way, that saying applies to me as well, but not in every aspect of my life.

    4. I am jealous you. I want to sleep more than 5 hours per day, but I can't. Oh! poor me. Could you share your sleeping time to me> I like your idea about uncertainty and changes of world. Everything never remain the same except the change. Scientists frequently confuse us all the time. Yet, I still follow the changes and updated information about science and technology news for correct understanding.

    5. firstly, I wanna say I like "12 hours a day to sleep" it is a thing that I also hope to do.

I agree with your thought "YOLO" whether these research is true or not, but do the thing that you like -do not think too much. Life is too short than do only the 'rule'.
