Does anyone need extra time?

The provisional thesis statement on those 3 topics is very difficult to compose. Because i don't know what is a best definition for those word, actually i even don't know what make it best description for some very simple words like them. I read all references mentioned but still have no idea what is the best description. Can the thesis statement conclude that none of them is best or all of them are good ? I'm in a dilemma. What is the worse between not choosing anyone or choosing but don't have enough supporting reasons.

  1. James,
First, thank you for posting your questions here. That was a good idea: this is exactly the sort of thing that can be usefully discussed here.
And I'm pretty sure that you are not the only one who is finding that it can be difficult to write one sentence. In fact, the evidence suggests that most people are finding it challenging. (It's 7:30, and I don't have that many yet.)

The three questions are all about the meaning of commonly used but controversial words, which is why I chose them. And they all require you to form your own opinion to support in an essay.

Which of the three concepts do you have the clearest or strongest idea about: culture, democracy, or person?

Is there one that you feel strongly about? That you feel many people are often wrong about? That might be a good one to choose. The essay will be an opportunity to present what you think is the best idea about what the word means, and perhaps also to show why other ideas are not so good for whatever reason.

The questions are challenging. But moral would have been at least as challenging, and you had a strong opinion about that word.

    I hope this helps.

And the thesis statement you write tonight is only provisional. You can revise it later.

    Peter.

And I'm looking forward to a few more responses here.
