Brainy men may be healthier men

Psychologist of King’s College UK, Rosalind Arden, found the new preliminary evidence that is genetic mutation related to intelligence and indicated overall health. She studied of “3654 Vietnam War veterans found that men with lower IQs are more likely to suffer from dozens of health problems” (¶ 2). In contrast, higher IQs will have better life style that lead indirectly to good overall health as Arden said “brighter people make better health decisions – they give up smoking when they find it's bad for you, they take up exercise when they find out its good for you, and they eat a lot of salad” (¶ 5). Other researcher, Mark Porkosch, a psychologist at Elon University in North Carolina his study revealed that “more intelligent men produce healthier sperm” (¶ 8). Therefore, it is necessary for further study to confirm the relation of genetic factors intelligence and overall health.

I think genetic factor are not related to all diseases. Some diseases are caused by other factor in the environment. Form the result of this NEWS, may stimulated Thai researcher to study more about the relation of genetic factors, health and disease because genetics come closer to our routine activity daily life. Do you believe in this NEWS? How much do you know about genetics?

  1. Thinking about ideal health, it must include the brain,I guess. I mean, if you have a perfect health, your brain also works well, then your IQ would be high.
However,I don't think it does apply for all human beings. For example, some genious scientists, such as Albert Einstein, are tend to concentrate on their resarch without sleep, even though they know it was not good for their health. Thus, I think it can not say for the lifestyle as well.

  2. I think people who have a high IQs they will know what is good or not good for their health.
For example,They always read an ingredient before eat or use something so it can make you know that which one is suitable for yourself. But,if you are too much suspect in every that you eat,may be it will make you crazy.

  3. I think genetic is one factor that related to IQ but it can not indicated overall of our health. There are many factors that can relate to our health such as environment. For example,If hight IQ people are live in the worse environment, they will not have a good health.
