Kloy's Academic Interests

I like to study maths, but just basic not advance. For me, advance maths can make me feel bad, but basic maths is fun and challenge.  I also like English and other languages such as Japanese and French. I used to learn Japanese and French, but now I forget almost everything. I don't like the way that some teachers teach the language. I mean they teach grammar and how to get high points but don't care that the students can communicate with others or not. This way of teaching can be found in many Thai school.

  1. I loved mathematics in high school. It was my favourite subject In fact, I started university with a major in mathematics, before I switched to philosophy. But I continued studying mathematics, and one of my main areas of interest in philosophy was logic, and the foundations of mathematics.

I also liked languages, but I'm afraid mine were not so practical as yours: I didn't study modern languages, except English of course. I studied Latin, and at university ancient Greek was another subject I took, but just for fun.

    1. Actually, in middle school I hated maths. I thought it's too difficult for me, I had to spend more time to understand it. It sounded crazy but when I chose Art-French major in high school, I knew that maths is my favorite subject.

    1. I think maths is fun. If you practice more, you will have a good grade and maybe like it.

  3. However, I'm pretty sure that you get some knowledge after studying these languages even though you don't like the teaching style. Of course!!! The effective teaching method should be emphasized on learners and the process....

    1. There are often Korean students in the AEP classes at AUA. This term there are two students from Korea studying the the Reading and Speaking elective.

Korean looks very difficult to me, but that might just be because I know nothing about it. Even when I look at the script, it seems totally alien to me. I used to read Chinese a little, and when I look at Japanese, at least the Kanji are familiar, and although I've studied languages like French, Spanish or Italian, at least they seem a bit familiar because of the Latin roots, and I can often guess the meaning (but some of my guesses are seriously wrong).

How exactly are you studying Korean?
And why did you choose Korean?

    2. I really love studying Korean. I started learning it when I am in middle school but I almost completely stopped learning it when I had to study French seriously in high school. Now, I have just graduated from high school and I am so glad that finally I have time to revise all of the lessons I learnt in the past and study more. I self-study from many books that my sister bought from Korea and I also study from online free coureses. I love everything about Korea. I love watching korean drama and it will be really amazing if I can understand what they are talking without subtitle. The sound of Korean language is beautiful for me (although many peaple say it sound quite ugly.) I also plan to study Chinese and Japanese but first I have to focus on English and Korean.
I always guess the meaning of French words that seem familiar and like you, mostly I guess wrongly.
