Mental illness does not discriminate between genders, socioeconomic status, age or race; everyone can have a mental illness. Some research has indicated that genes possibly play a role in the development mental illnesses. In general, people in Thai culture have mental illness; they will get suggestions from close friends or their own family. They will try and find out if there are any underlying problems together. If a solution after consulting with close friends and family can’t be found, the person who may be mentally challenged will be advised to consult with psychologists or psychiatrists for professional treatment of their symptoms. The psychologist will treat patient in different methods depending on the patient’s symptoms. For the best one method to treat patient is inform the patient family how to take care of them. In short, if you see someone exhibiting abnormal behavior or mental illness, you should encourage them and treat them like a normal person.
