Beautiful Death

What I read

According to BBC "Putting death on the school timetable"(2018), A proposal by the Australian Medical Association Queensland which is considered is quite interesting worldwide. As we know, breakthrough technology in the present day normally concentrates with prolonging patient's life much more than we look over their true requirements. So we may forget that some patients would prefer to die peacefully in their house among their families instead of rescuing with the weak body or without goodbye. That is a reason why this proposal prioritize awareness of the optional preparing death in a school timetable.

My response

I am very interested about this news highly, because our first idea about death in my age is to take the modern treatment mainly. Moreover, we are less implanted how to prepare and manage the rest of decreased's wealth. So it seems to be late to ask their desires, the most problem after that will be upcoming debate. In the court, it is a simple topic that we found actually and some cases seems to take long period to compromise on  each parts of benefit. And why we do not value to find better ways?
For me, to plan in this thing is a great idea not only to reduce conflict but also to follow the true patient's demand. For example, certain patients do not want to torment anymore. It  does not benefit to keep them suffering the wound, and it is better to obey and ready to manage the following situation, isn't it? Another is that the patient will be happy if they have an opportunity to talk a little bit to their kin. In the fact, Euthanasia is accepted or not based on the law of each country, but it should recognize it more about the necessary of using. Thus, I think that this rule is relatively helpful to learn and adopt providing that finding the best solution when the end of life comes.

  1. I don't know what 'the beautiful death' is about. But if it is about helping people to aware of death which is a truth of life, then I think this class sounds interesting. In Buddhism, one main principle that has been taught is death awareness that help people to realize that everything is impermanent. Every being is mortal. So they should not live their life carelessly, everyday in life is invaluable and has meaning.

  2. My dad was one of the lucky ones. He died suddenly one morning at age 79. He had been working on his farm the day before, and was getting up to go to work when he suffered a massive stroke that quickly killed him. I think it was a good death. Although sudden, it wasn't unexpected, and it saved him from spending his final days in hospital, which he would have hated.

To answer Noon's question, I think it's a good idea to talk about death. We see it in movies, but there it's an unreal piece of entertainment that doesn't touch our real lives. And reading about disasters doesn't really affect us either, so it can come as a shock when someone close dies. I also liked Teng's comment above that it can help us appreciate the life we have today to realize that it is not going to last, that one day in the not too distant future we will cease to exist.

I like the idea of issues surrounding death being taught in classrooms.

  3. In our country's culture, the issue about death is also taboo, people would not like to talk about death because they think it is infelicitous.Meanwhile, some people have told me it is lucky to killed quickly by some diseases.
I am not sure to support whether we join the class about death in school. It is enough that we should respect conception that everyone is about death,They can chose the place where they will die when the end of day is coming.

  5. I think it's a good idea to put death in a school timetable. It would be good if you know that when you will die and you can have time to do the thing you want to before you die, just like talk to people you love, eat anything you want or go to the place you want to. It also good with family that they wouldn't be shocked because they know before. And yes, I want to join this class.
