Lateral thinking inspires the world

one of Leonardo's anatomy drawings
After I heard the news about Edvard Munch’s artwork, The Scream, sold for $120 m, it made me think about how a pastel artwork can be sold in an expensive price as $120 m. And of course, The Scream is not the first one .Before that “The card player”, by Paul Cezanne was sold for $250 m. Is there anything inside these artworks? This question linked me to one of the greatest artist and scientist of the world, Leonardo da Vinci.
Referring to “Leonardo da Vinci: How accurate were anatomy drawings?” Leonardo died in 1519 or about 500 years ago. Now some of his drawings of the human body go on display in the Queen’s Gallery at Buckingham Palace. But the question is How accurate were these 500 years ago anatomy drawings? Peter Abrahams, professor of clinical anatomy at Warwick said “Those are absolutely anatomically correct. Leonardo was a meticulous observer, and meticulous experimental scientist. He drew what he saw, and he had the ability to draw what he saw absolutely perfectly” (¶10). For some difficult parts that hard to get through such as female corpses, Leonardo used his knowledge that had gained from dissecting animals to help him understand the human body. In addition, Prof Peter Abrahams believe that Leonardo’s work was some 300 years ahead of its time. His work is as good as anything produced today.

I drew it when I was a child.
As a young child, I interested in art. I love to drawing a monster and coloring a picture. On my home’s wall, there is a jigsaw puzzle of The Mona Lisa, the famous artwork of Leonardo de Vinci. I have to accept that I was really afraid of that jigsaw puzzle because every time I walk around this jigsaw, I will see her eyes glance at me. It’s really creepy. Although I absolutely fear of her, it still attracts my eyes .For me, there is something hiding in that picture. It’s a feeling that I can’t express. And this is the start between Leonardo da Vinci and me.
In my opinion, Leonardo isn’t just a general artist who trying to draw a beautiful picture. He created his works perfectly in every dimension. With his lateral thinking, he wants not only to draw a complete anatomy of human but also to know what should be inner the accurate anatomy. On the other word, he thought that if you know what’s inside the body, you will know how to draw it with absoluteness.
As it said if you’re going to be a bear, be a Grizzly .Because of his keen on learning, he studied the origin of what he passion in thoroughly. No wonder why thousands of his works inspire the world. And now, it’s your turn. What’ll you inspire?

  1. Cherry,
I love your monster drawing. It was a neat innovation to include that in your blog post. I can't do the same because I don't think any of my ancient art works still exist, unless an aunt is hiding a few to be revealed at a later date.

On my recent visit to Australia for Songkran, one of my aunts gave me a letter I'd written to my grandmother when I was 11 years old. It was a powerful reminder of the thrilling events (a summer trip) at the time.

I had also read the article on Leonardo that you've blogged, and I'm glad you did. He also also fascinated me from a very early age.

    2. June,
I think you can press "Like" now.

Now I need to do a bit more fine tuning.
I've made so many edits to the HTML that I had to apply a new template to add this functionality.

What background colour theme would you like?

    3. Every colour i fine to me. However i like yellow cream the best!

    4. Thanks for the constructive comments.
Is this close enough to yellow cream?
It's about time I overhauled the layout and theme.

In fact, Blogger has evolved a lot since my last format revisions. I can now do almost everything without having to edit the HTML directly.

And you can now Like to Facebook, Google+, Twitter etc.
