Shutting down of Japan nuclear power plant effect living life's ?

Although, nuclear power generate heat and electricity, but also harmful by its product from radioactivity which cause cancer. Therefore, Japanese people living with fearful because from the past in WORLD WAR 2 which occurred in Hiroshima.

According to BBC News,"Tomari shutdown leaves Japan without nuclear power", Japan is switching off the last nuclear reactor at the Tomari plant, in Hokkaido which meltdown by Tsunami from March 2011 for maintenance. Japan lived without energy until 40 years ago, nuclear power was created. Many people walk through Tokyo for to celebrate the end of nuclear power in Japan. Now, every nuclear power plant in Japan was shutting down in order to recheck and authorize by minister for withstanding the earth quake and tsunami. However, all Japanese people have to face the lack of power in summer, but government could force this issue by move against public opinion. On the other hand, organizers of anti-nuclear disagree with government to re approval. One of campaigner said "there are so many nuclear plants, but not a single one will be up and   running today, and that's because of our efforts". Also if they can get through this summer without problem, there will be more people want the nuclear plant shut down permanently.

After reading this article, its remind me of how bad the situation that was happened in WORLD  WAR 2 which i learnt from documentaries. Therefore, it is a good idea to close the nuclear plant permanent because it will be safe for Japanese people and also avoiding of cancer.

Though, nuclear power reactor has many advantages as it is a driving force on energy for the whole country and also the rest can make a profit from selling to others because Japan is one of the few country that has nuclear power plant, if there are any problem in the plant it can harm people. For example, nuclear power release the radioactivity which can cause mutation or cancer, which can be pass to the next generation. Therefore, it not safe to running the nuclear power plant.

  1. But now that the Japanese are not using nuclear energy, they have a possible energy shortfall, and are using more fossil fuel energy. I'm not sure whether that is a better alternative to nuclear or not.

Certainly, there is some risk of radiation from nuclear energy, as the recent history of failure and radiation release caused by the tsunami shows, but that is only a possible risk, and over the decades of Japanese nuclear power use, the actual harm done has been very little. On the other hand, burning fossil fuels definitely and immediately adds to global warming, is expensive, and quickly uses up a dwindling resource. So I'm not sure that closing the nuclear plants is the best solution for Japan.

Sun has raised some good points for discussion in his post.
What do others think? Is it really a good idea to stop using nuclear energy? Are the risks worth the benefits? Is burning carbon fuels better or worse?

  2. After I know of the dangerous of nuclear energy,I think we should use the new alternative source from natural. Solar power energy is one of the good source that is friendly to environment, especially in Thailand. There is more of sunshine in Thailand. Many area can install the solar cell e.g. in the land, on the roof of the house, outside the building. Every can make their own electricity and supply to the others if there are more.
