First summit leads to the end relationship

What I read

According to "US 'Provocation' threatens peace, says North Korea"(2018, May 6). They are going to have a historic summit between North Korea and America which is the first meeting between both country leaders from their agreement last moth. The reason of having summit because of the US knows both North - South Korea become more peaceful and reconciliation. So Mr. Trump hope that the North Korea's leader will be trusted by his statement.

My response

Since the agreement between North - South Korea to pursue a permanent peace and complete the denuclearization of the divided peninsula, as they embraced after an historic summit laden with symbolism makes Trump and other countries think that they will have a good relationship again since the signing of Korean War armistice in 1953.

According to , the US spokeswoman has said this is going to be a first meeting ever between US President and North Korea’s leader that could take place in the coming weeks with pushing North Korea to give up its nuclear weapons.

And, I think another one reason that Trump want to summit with Kim because he wants to help three Americans who get arrested in recent years in North Korea that had recently been relocated from a labor camp to a hotel near Pyongyang as well.

My question

1. Do you think Kim’s speech can be trusted on this time? Why?
2. How do you think about their summit this time?

  1. I was wondering what you thought about all the symbolism. Was it a good idea, or just childish show for immature politicians and their domestic audiences?

And why now? What is your opinion on the timing?

Finally, I was interested in what we learn about the rule of law from the Americans that have been held under arrest in labor camps by North Korea. It's certainly legal, but is it just or morally acceptable?
