What we read
We have now read and checked our understanding of both of the readings in Unit 3, "Is Your Memory Online" and "How Does the Brain Multitask" (Bixby & Scanlon, 2013).

Our responses
as we saw in the survey or reading habits that we did yesterday, "Am I a Smart Reader?" it is good practice to read interactively, that is, to critically question what we are reading. Stella Cottrell (2013) asked us whether we:
- questioned what we were reading.
- looked for answers to questions.
- made notes not only of important points, but of "ideas generated by what [we] read."
and - whether we "challenged the assumptions of the writer, the logic of the arguments, and the validity of the conclusions."

Bixby and Scanlon's questions
Think about the ideas from "Is Your Memory Online" and "How Does the Brain Multitask?" and discuss these questions in a comment.
- Both readings are based on research results. Which research seems more reliable? Why?
- In education, should teachers encourage students to use transactive memory and multitasking? Why or why not?

I think research from brain multitask is more reliable because of using high-technology,MRI which shows facts and doesn't have many errors.
ReplyDeleteI think in education teacher shouldn't encourage both of them because transactive memory makes student remember where the contents are but cant't remember contents and multitasking makes students less concentrate on studying or reading books
Brain multitasking seems more reliable. Because it is an action that most of us do in our daily life. No matter what we are doing, We still trying to do other thing.
ReplyDeleteFor me, Teacher should encourage student to use transactive memory and multitasking. But teacher should also tell the limitation of each action and the good and bad point of them.
In my opinion, I believe that research that based on scientific result is more reliable which is I think the second brain MRI images is more accurate.
ReplyDeleteIn education, I don't think students should use trans active memory when studying because student will not remember and forgot about information very quickly. However, I personally think that multi-tasking is good for learning especially online classroom like we're now using internet, open text books and listening to teacher. It helps students are active learners.
1. in my opinion,I think the "Is your memory online" is more reliable because The technology nowadays helps the people a lot with working and the computer users are developing stronger trans active memories.
ReplyDelete2.
answer 2. No. Because in fact that our brain can't work 2 sides in the same time that will cause problem with their study.
DeleteI believe that the second reading is more reliable. The first reading is about how our memory change which concentrate on the evidence. Second reading, on the other hand, focus on the experiment as well. It is more specific and
ReplyDeleteSecond reading, on the other hand, focus on the experiment as well. It explains about brain multitask which is much more useful for our everyday lives. The result of experiment remind us what we should do and should not.
Delete2. Teacher should encourage students to use transactive memory rather than multitasking. It is very useful for students to develop self-study skills. Students can concentrate on analysing infromation more than remember it.
Transactive memory is more reliable. Because it uses tool such as internet.
ReplyDeleteTeacher should not encourage students to multitask because students will lose focus.
