I think that the main reason birds migrate is for food, and I guess it's the same for other animals, such as bison, salmon and whales. I've often seen documentaries about these animals on TV, especially some of the excellent BBC productions about life on Earth.
ReplyDeleteNow that I think about it, a lot of these animals also migrate for reproduction. Some birds, whose name I don't remember, always return to nest on the same isolated rocky island because it's a safe place to hatch and rear their young, except that their fellow birds in the nest next door might make a snack of their babies if they get the chance. Nature is vicious and cruel, and the most competitive animals are always the ones in the same species who want exactly the same resources.
I'm not sure whether any animals migrate to or from Australia, but it's easy to think of examples of human activity that interfere with animal movement. When I'm back in Australia being driven around by my brother and sisters, there are lots of signs up warning drivers to beware of koalas crossing the road, and many roads now have special fencing along them to stop koalas crossing, which is a serious interference in the lives of those iconic Australian animals.
Unfortunately, it's hard to stop some animals moving around, mainly the ones that are alien pests. In Australia, cane toads are a serious menace to native animals, which they poison when eaten or when they contaminate water supplies. None of the methods tried to stop these foreign invaders has proved successful, and they are slowing moving into ever greater areas of Australia, evolving rapidly to cope even with dry areas and the cold that once stopped them from going too far south.
DeleteSome birds migrate due to cold weather.
ReplyDeleteI don't know much about migration of animals in Thailand, it must be birds, fish and other wild animals.
Most of human activities affects animal movement such as travelers who go diving often throw trashes into the sea or ocean which affect ocean ecosystem, change habits of sea life, and can hurt fish if they eat trashes.
Some birds migrate because the area they currently live is changing such as weather or there are no food source left so they migrate to another area which suits them better.
ReplyDeleteSuch as animal in africa, they migrate to find another habitat area.
Some area may has been invaded by human activities such as lumbering which destroy the area and it affect animal because it change the enviroment in the area and it changed the migrate animal behavior.
1.Because of the weather that have changed then it makes them can't live at the same place which has the bad weather but after over the bad weather finished most of them come back to the place where they used to live again.
ReplyDelete2. The another animals are ants because they will migrate when it's going to have rain or flood or before their living get flooded.
3. The human actually disrupts their living place and hunts them for foods then after that the amounts of them are lower and some kinds of animal are become extinct.
I am not really sure why some birds migrate. I guess that they might change where they live when they grow up to find some new source of food. It think their many species were designed and they will know where to move by their instinct. On the other hand, there were many bird's species as well that they are not migrate.
ReplyDeleteI think salmon may migrate. As we have seen on the salmon documentary, they swim reverse the river direction for very long distance in order to leave their egg. Sometimes, they may migrate across the country. It depend on where they live and the objective of migration.
I tend to believe that industrial manufacturer make a huge negative effect to animal migration. It disrupts the cycle of animal movement. Another drawbacks is natural travel industries such as traveling in natural park. For example, many tourists try to take picture with reserve animal.
I think birds migrate because of season change and probably their living and reproduction. They try to find a suiltable weather for that.
ReplyDeleteApart from birds, I think fish also migrate. In a specific season, some fish will looking for a new habitat that is appropriate to lay their eggs.
In Thailand, I do not see much about migrating animals but I can notice some flock of birds fly across the sky in Bangkok. It seems to me they migrate.
Of course, human activities has impacts on ecosystem, esspectially the activities that cause pollution and climate change. This affect animals whose lives' states depend on the seasons like birds and fish, for instance.
