Smuggling crocodiles can lead to an extinction of some species

What I read

"50 crocodiles seized at Heathrow airport" (2018) is about smuggling animals Malaysia from BBC news. Fifty crocodied have been destined to be transported by boxes to Cambridgeshire for meat. Due to the cramped space in the transportation, a crocodile died. This smuggling has been seized by the police officer and the officer will improve and take care of this type of smuggling better.

My response

I think that smuggling can be all types of good. In Thailand, ivory of elephant is very rare and this goods have been secretly exported to other countries. This action has led to an annihilation of some species in Thailand. Although, there is no opposing opinion much in this day, I hope that we will be awared of this situation.

In term of crocodile leather, there has an evidence shows that if we continue to kill crocodile for meat or leather, we will not see a crocodile in the future, which means that crocodile will be extinct. I have gone to crocodile farm in Thailand and have seen that they used crocodiles for a show. However, they also kill them for meat and leather. These goods is very rare and expensive, so that people nowadays have been trying to do this type of business more than the past.

Nevertheless, I believe that we as people can improve this situation to be better. We have to demonstrate this situation to the public, so that the public will aware and together improve tge situation.

  1. In addition to its use for leather, crocodile meat is also eaten in Australia. In fact, I bought some back with me from my visit last month. I usually bring a few packets of various types of jerky back for friends. This year, the selection was of kangaroo, emu, beef and crocodile meats. Crocodile is not my favourite — I prefer kangaroo.

As I was reading Bee's summary, I thought that England would be a bit chilly for crocodiles, but perhaps they are kept in heated accommodation. In Australia, there is no shortage of native animals like kangaroos, emus and crocodiles, so I don't think it's any worse to eat their meat than it is the meat of pigs or chickens.

Perhaps a solution to the threat of extinction is to allow people to farm the animals for profit, which is apparently what the crocodiles going to England were destined for. This would give the animal farmers a strong incentive to protect their property and ensure its continued existence.

  2. In response to Bee's question, the first thing I thought of was cigarettes, luxury cars and other imports with excessively high excise (import) taxes, which encourage smuggling by criminals and corruption among officials.
