Ong's academic interests
My academic interest is history. History is a story of the pass of human . It can explain many things about our life. Since human was born in the earth, they develop and create many things. Sometime, they have a mistake but it is the lesson that teach human not do that again. If we can learn about the mistake in the pass we are not going to do that again. the most benefit of learning history is you can know how our ancestor came or how our county was established. in addition to, we know about the innovation that make human life easier. innovations are very useful for human.

It is a good statement that can show how you are interested in this subject because you can give me a perspective of this subject. I am also interested in this subject but I do not know much with it.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comment. It is very useful for me to make another post and I grad to know that you are interested on history too.
DeleteHistory is a good thing to study. I think you can learn a lot from this subject and it will help you to avoid doing mistakes which our ancestor have done. However, I am the one who really hate anything that is related to my memory because I can not remember them. I hope you will enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteWhich people's history do you find most interesting? Why?
ReplyDeleteAs I commented on Ying's post, I've read most in classical Western history - the history of ancient Greece and Rome, which also complemented my philosophy and other studies. But since these are where the ideas that have today made western culture the global culture, I think it's good to understand them to better understand things like democracy and science.
For the contrast, I've also studied the more despotic history of Near Eastern nations, although Egypt, Persia and the countries around Israel have always been in contact with, and often warring with, the Western culture. And it is these Middle and Near East countries from which came all three monotheistic religions, which have been so bad for Western civilisation.
i agree with you that we can learn many things by studying history. I espically like to read the story of ancestors or other famous people in the history because we can know the whole story of individual in just 1 day.
ReplyDeleteIm interested in history too, but some histories that happened in this world are not true or was adapted by a person who has authority in that time.
ReplyDeleteHistory is one of my favorite subjects, and I always read about the ancient history of the world ancestors such as Maya, Egyptian and so on. Now I'm reading about world serial killers which are so addictive.
