Smartphone overseas web warning

Nowadays, mobile phone became our part. With the advance technology of cellphone or smart phone, this make people access the internet anytime and everywhere. However, smartphone may cause a problem when you go aboard.

The article "Smartphone overseas web warning" show that going abroad with smartphones can make user overhang with the huge bills because your smart phone connect to the internet. The author say that "One German man was reported to have been charged £41,000 after downloading a television programme onto his phone" because the operator charge £8 for every megabyte downloaded. In order to prevent this problem, the European Union will impose limit bills for data downloading at the limit of 50 euros (£45) a month.

In my opinion, I support this idea to limit bills for data downloading. It would be better if operator in Thailand adopt this policy. Last month, when my brother bring Iphone when he travel in Japan, he was shock with the roaming data bill. Althought, the operator offer the 80% of the bills, he still need to pay for data roaming about two thousands.

  1. I disagree that mobile phone service providers should limit bills for data downloading because some people need to download important information when they go abroad. However, the problem is that users cannot afford very expensive charges of their downloading. Moreover, some people don't know how much they have to pay per each downloading. Therefore, if the user can afford the charges, they should have right to download information that they want. I think the providers would rather give information about the charges than limit bills.
