some treatments cause death

In "Infection killing cancer children", Emma Wilkinson says that 25% of children who were blood cancer died because of infection, which was more than those who died because of cancer. This happened because the infection make immune system weak and the new target of researchers is finding new "therapies with fewer side effects on immune system" (¶ 18).

Some therapies have many bad and severe effects which can cause death. Even though a patient gets the best doctor and medical equipments, there is no guarantee that the therapy will succeed. Even some medicines, they have many effects and can make you feel bad. Therefore, the best way is keeping healthy by regularly doing exercises and eating healthy food.

  1. I have heard that chemotherapy is more tormented than the cancer itself. Generally, the protective measure costs a lot more than the preventive measure.

  2. I heard several times that there is no certainty, no 100% accuracy, in doctors' diagnosis and cure. The patients have to expect the unexpected, always. This topic reminds me of "The Road Not Taken" because patients and relatives sometimes wonder what would it be like if they chose another curation.

  3. P'Liu, Can you explain the difference between protective measure and preventive measure? Could you give me an example of them?

  4. Sorry, what I want to mean is a corrective measure, not a protective measure. Corrective measure is the measure we use to solve the problem that already occurred. In contrast, preventive measure is to prevent the problem before it occurs.

  5. I agree that prevention is better than cure. Therefore, all of us should take care of our health by eating a healthy food and doing exercise regularly. This way is much cheaper than medical fee. Moreover, it also makes us have a happy life.

  6. Thanks P'Liu.
I agree with Kate. I think that if we have good health; no pain and hurt, we can happily live and do what we want.
