The caution of pregnancy

Currently, not only many women's lifestyle have change slightly but also they have become more working women. Sometimes, they don't have enough time to take care of themselves especially in the women who are being in pregnancy. As we can see in the article "Drug trial to prevent obese kids" on the BBC News (2011).

According to NSH trial, Overweight pregnant women are given the medicine to reduce the risk of obesity in their babies. Pregnant women need to eat too much food for a growing baby that is a cause of health problems for both mother and baby. The doctors try to control this problem by taking metformin that is used to cure diaetes. Weight concern also mentioned that before pregnancy, women should control a normol weight. From this study, 15% of pregnant women in the UK hospitals are obese. As a result, it makes an increasing in the risks of women's death, pre-eclampsia, and baby is going to be stillborn or large. If obese pregnant women take metformin, it will help to reduce the amount of sugar that is going to a baby. This makes baby having a normal size.

I think many people now don't pay enough attention to their health particularly pregnant women. They focus on a job too much in order to get a better life and they sometimes try to ignore their lifestyles that have change steadily. That's the cause of health problems for both mother and baby. Basically, pregnant women need to eat a lot of food to share with their babies. Sometimes, they are not aware of obesity that is going to affect with them and baby. It might be mothers' inexperience that they should not eat too much food during pregnancy. As a result, mother should always see the doctor to get some advice before pregnancy. They also ought to be ready to be real mother to take special care of their children.

  2. June and Tina,
I have never heard about this before. It's surprise me that eating a lot cause damage to mother and her child. But most pregnancy women still believe they should eat much as they can for feeding their own child. sadly, they gradully harm theirselves without unawareness.

  3. I think mother should select food that are benefits with herself and baby such as fruit, vitamin and protien, especially milk because mother can get calcium from drinking milk as well and protect her from Osteoporosis which is disorder characterized by the dwindling of bones due to loss of calcium after birth baby. But eating is not too much and she should execise too.

  4. Kukik,

Many pregnant women eat everything they want. Some women eat a lot of desserts which they rarely eat before they are pregnant. They have a strong desire to eat some types of food. It's hard to stop them from eating. However, I agree with Kukik's idea that they should eat healthy food that are good for their baby.

  5. Almost pregnant women want their babies to be healthy after birth. Infact it is not necessary to eat too much until you gain too much weight. I talked with my Japanese friend, who has two kids; she said doctor in Japan is very strict. He explained to her that pregnant woman allow to gain weight only 10-12 Kilograms within 9months. It’ll be easier for mother when it’s time to deliver the baby. After that you can feed and grew the baby outside. The other thing is eat too much sweet thing; you can have a diabetic disease. Even I’ve never been pregnant but I can feel that it’s difficult when pregnant, you try to do your best for job, take care of your baby and your own health. It’s so stressful. Maybe it’s one reason why they eat too much when they pregnant.
