Dr Gabriele Dennert, the lead author of the Institute for Transdisciplinary Health Research in Germany, announced that they did not find the preventative effect of taking selenium as a cancer therapy. Moreover, taking selenium for a long time can harm our health because it is poisonous. Nontheless, we should take small quantity of selenium everyday because it improves our immune system's function.
In my view, we should think carefully before taking substances even if manufacterers claimed that they are tested by a high standard medical institute. Also, we should eat vegetables and fruits at least one kilogram per day because it can reduce the risk of cancer. In addition, eating various colours of fruits and vegetables such as orange, green, red, purple, and white, is neccesary since they have different types of substance. Each substance have its unique benefit.Vitamins and minerals from natural source are better than supplements.

Hi Pree
ReplyDeleteIt's sad for the patient who has cancer if Dr.Dennert's research is true. I don't know that do we still have another medicine to fight with the cancer disease yet. From your suggestion I think it’s hard to eat vegetable & fruits 1 kg per day especially urban people. It’s good for your health if you can do it. Sometimes I have my second options, when I feel like I don’t have enough time to eat healthy food or lack of rest; I choose to take some supplement such as vitamin E or C, multi vitamin to get balanced for my diet.
N'Pree
ReplyDeleteI think you are right! Before eating supplement and vitamin we should think carefully about the effect. this is because i rather believe everything has positive and negative sides. Especially curing cancer with taking medicine or supplement-meaning no surgery,no chemotherapy-,I've never heard before. Other option, eating a variety of fruits and vegetable help you a lot to prevent cancer and other diseases. But you have to eat in proper quantity.

ReplyDeleteI don't agree with you that a person who live in urban area can't eat 1 kg 0f fruits and vegetables. It's a popular excuse that many people might say when you suggest this idea to them. There are many fruits and vegetables available in Bangkok. A lot of restaurants and food stand provide various type of fruits and vegetables such as salad, yam and so on.
Hi,Pree.
ReplyDeleteCancer is really awful desease.Do you know HEAT SHOCK PROTEIN (HSP) ? We have this substance in our body at birth, and it can repair protein in cell.According to one experiment,HSP killed 44% canser cells in a loboratory dish. The most important thing to let HSP work is to warm our body.I recommend you to take a bath with hot temperature. Plus, exercise is also effective because you can make your body warm.In the meantime,I believe to enjoy daily life is the best medicine to our mental and psysical health.
Pree
ReplyDeleteI think you misunderstand my point. I absolutely agree with you that there are lots of shop sell fruits and vegetable, but what I mean is the urban people especially who work in the city, they don’t have time to eat it because they’re too busy to go out and eat healthy food. For easy example, after we finished the morning English class, sometimes we don’t have enough time to have some more fruit or any dessert. We have to rush to the next class in the afternoon. That’s the reason why they can’t do it.
I also think the foods that sell on the footpath are one cause of cancer; the bad traffic jam produces toxic and poison carbon dioxide. It’s spread around the area along the street. The one who buy food on the footpath has to be extra careful about their health.

Your information is very helpful. I finally find the good thing from taking warm water. I love to take warm water because it helps me to relax but my skin is getting dry too. But after you told me how good it is, I’m sure I’ll keep doing it.
Kuriko,
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing us this knowledge. I agree that "enjoy daily life is the best medicine to our mental and psysical health". Our emotion effect our health. Mental health are linked to psysical health. If you have good mental health it'll result to good psysical health.
Art,
ReplyDeleteI will try harder not to contribute to your cancer risk at lunch. I usually just have a quick snack in the break - fruit is good - and have my real lunch after I finish at 3:30, when I have time to relax and enjoy a full meal.

I wonder if food off the street is any more risky because of exposure to the car pollution. Does anyone have any facts about this?
I think that since it's generally cooked fresh, it's probably at least as healthy as restaurant food, but I don't know. Does any study show that footpath food contains dangerous levels of any toxin? Carbon dioxide is not a problem - the higher levels of that are within safe levels, and it's a gas that does not combine with the food on stalls.
Pree's opinion is right that it's better to eat natural sources than supplements because it's fresh and cheap. We also get full of nutrition. If we eat supplement, they might add something in that supplement that we don't what it is. Currenly, there are a lot of supplement which is easy to buy it. For instance, seller always says that you eat only one, it will protect you from many diseases. It might be good for you if it works but if it's not, you may get more diseases from taking that supplement. Thus, we should make sure that they have enough reason or evidence to prove it good for your health.

ReplyDeleteI agree with Peter that we can eat fruit as a snack in the break. I usually bring fruit from my house or my dorm to eat in a short break. I always buy a lot of fruit and stock it in my refrigerator. When I was at my campus dorm in Rungsit, I got up early and went to Thai market(Taladthai) before I went to study in the morning class. Thus, I have a fresh fruit which is very healthy. However, I sometimes buy fruit or vegetable at a stand to eat such as Thai air way bakery stand, some fruit stands in Silom, Thammasart hospital. I choose to buy from some stands that is clean and provide fresh fruit. I am very allergic to chemical substances such as artificial colors, monosodium glutamate and other poison substances but I rarely have food poisoning from eating fruit that I buy from the stand.
Hi Pree!
ReplyDeleteI agree with your idea that we should variety of vegetable. Moreover, people should do more exercises for reducing the systoms of cancer. The best way to prevent cancer is changing babits. For example, everyone know that a person who smoke cigarette is higher risk to get cancer than a people who does not smoke so they shoul give up about this disease occure.

ReplyDeleteIs this moral assertion by Oat right?
Should we stop doing something just because we know it is unhealthy?
Is it really wrong to do something that is unhealthy, such as live in Bangkok where the stress and the pollution are unhealthy? Should people living in Bangkok stop it immediately because it is unhealthy?
P'Oat, Peter
ReplyDeleteNo. I don't think that we should stop doing something because it is unhealthy. It's not wrong to do something that is unhealthy. No, People who live in Bangkok should not stop it. Accorting to Jean Paul Sartre, "Man is condemned to be free; because once thrown into the world, he is responsible for everything he does." However, we shouldn't do something that make others annoying such as smoking at AUA's first floor as securities do. Even though living in bangkok is unhealthy, you can avoid pollution by living in green area such as Talinchan, Taweewattana which have less pollution. You can regularly do the exercise if you can't living in these green areas.
