More and more people like coffee, because the smell and the feeling after drinking it. However, more and more reports point out coffee is bad for health, such as the news on the BBC "Sex and coffee 'trigger stroke'"
A research published in the journal Stroke comes a conclusion that Coffee is one of eight factors to trigger stroke, because coffee increase blood pressure which could result in blood vessels bursting. However, James, the writer of BBC, keep his own idea about the result because the researchers do the study in a narrow cases in number, location, the period of study, and different kind of person; coffee is not the direct reason to trigger stroke which is a sudden and short increase in blood pressure; it is precondition to be a stroke that high blood pressure weakens blood vessels and other reasons cause blood pressure.
James is right. Although some of patients have the habit of drinking coffee, we still don't have enough evidence to confirm coffee is bad for health, because a lot of health people drink coffee too. Some people believe that tea is bad for health for tea polyphenol and caffeine, but the experience shows us drinking tea in correct way is very good for health, and specialists have given us a lot scientific reason to certify why tea is good. Coffee has the same situation. We cannot ignore its benefit by a few unimportant and uncertain reasons. As human is omnivorous being, keeping balance diet is most important. If a person eat some food too much so that he is ill. Can we get the result that this kind of food is harmful? Maybe, he is ill because the lack of some nutrition from other kind of food, not because eating this kind of food too much. Drink and eat whatever you like as long as you are responsible for your actions.

fter first reading Tina's blog on it, I'm now enjoying Gallagher's article with my morning coffee. Hopefully, I won't suffer any sudden shocks that would increase my possibly elevated risk factor due to coffee even more.
ReplyDeletePerhaps I should move on to the soothing news in the politics section to relax?
Unfortunately, (or do I mean fortunately?) my addiction to coffee and the drugs in it includes not just physical dependence, with an awful headache if I miss my hit, but a psychological desire. I love my morning cup of coffee, and I like the afternoon one, too. And sometimes anohter one in the evening. I'm definitely not about to quit using coffee just because it might have a few health risks.
Unfortunately, this kind of habit will cut short your life indeed. Your family will suffer the pain of losing you earlier by not only feeling but also money and time spending on your illness. You have to make the decision by yourself which is more important between enjoying coffee or drugs and your family's feeling; which level is the balance line between yourself and your family.
ReplyDeletePeter, I am sorry that I haven't writen it clearly. Gallagher keep his own idea means Gallagher don't agree with the conclusion and he don't disagree with it. He just said the evidence is not enough to prove the conclusion. Maybe you have to suffer for a short time. :(

ReplyDeleteI think, coffee is not bad for you health. If you are not drink over two cups per day.It can make you fresh, active and protect Alzheimer. On the other hand, if people drink coffee more over two cups per day.It is disadvantage you healthy. You may have get osteoporois and premature aging because caffenine can destroy your collagen and bone.In sum, people should omnivorous diet for healthy.
I would like to suggest Peter should have a sleep when you have a headache. You should change to drink tea better than drink coffee.
I agree with Tip that if we don't drink coffee more than 2 cups per day, it's not affect your health because 2 cups of coffee are not that much portion in our body. You have to think that if you love eating or drinking something that makes you feel fresh or happy, so you should do that. On the other hand, if you dramatically keep eating or drinking something too much, it will cause you a disease in the future. Thus, when you eat or drink, you ought to make it balance.

ReplyDeleteI think drink a cup of coffee per day is not harmful for your health but it help you to have better health. According to the article; Health and cooking,Frank Hu, MD, MPH, PhD, nutrition and epidemiology professor at the Harvard School of Public Health, he said coffee might keep diabetes at bay. He points to antioxidants nutrients that is found in coffee can help prevent tissue damage caused by molecules called oxygen-free radicals. The caffeine in coffee is not hurt you if you don't drink more than two cups a day.If you don't want caffeine remain in your blood, after your coffee, you need to drink more water. It will start your day as Peter said. Drinking alchohalic beverage is more dangerous than coffee. The bad things about drinking coffee that I can think right now are having a coffee breath for a few hour and your teeth might not white like the others who not drinking coffee or tea.
Although there are some drawbacks from drinking coffee, it gives many benefits to drinker as well.
ReplyDeleteI have ever read some coffee knowledge from internet. Drinking coffee helps us to reduce stress and relieves the pain, especially the treatment of migraine. If you drink coffee regularly, it helps you to decrease cholesterol and prevent heart disease because there is Nicotine in coffee, but not the same the kind of cigarette and including vitamins B that your body needs. However, you should control coffee drinking as P'Tip suggest. Otherwise, you may be sleepless if you drink coffee a lot.
I think drink coffee is ok, if you drink in appropriate amount. Especially black coffee, it can give benefit to your body. I have read about coffee,it very useful more than you ever knows. Coffee can help prevent many kind of disease such as cancer, hepatitis B, and asthma. In summary, if you drink coffee in appropriate amount can be more useful than punishment.
ReplyDeleteI don't think that my personal prejudices about drinking coffee are very reliable for deciding whether it is healthy or not. Many things taken in extremely small quantities are very unhealthy, such as nicotine in cigarettes.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I think the decision is and should be mine whether I drinnk coffee or not, I am sure that my self created ideas about its health value are largely worthless - I would trust published research by reliable academics far more than my own ideas about the health value of coffee.
Over the years, I have read of most of the research results that Art, Kukik and others have mentioned in their comments, so I think that it's probably not risky for me to have my two cups a day.
And a big advantage to drinking coffee is the pleasure it gives me to start my day with something so enjoyable and relaxing! I think that is worth something when we make decisions about what to do.
Your topic make me shock!!! I really like coffee, athough it is good or bad for my health(lol), and I hope that Jame is right. Many people love to drink coffee because of smell ,taste or feeling when they drink, but the most reason that I drink it because I want to awake during I work and study. When I feel sleepy, I usually drink it refreashing my brain.

ReplyDeletetake it easy, I have the same idea with Gallagher: there is not enough evidence to prove drinking coffee will trigger stroke. However I am not sure that drinking coffee is nothing harmful. My advice is drinking coffee freely if you like it, but don't forget to pay attetion the risk. The beter way is drinking it not too much according to other classmates' advice.
Everyone
ReplyDeleteI don't drink coffee because I will have a headache if I smell or drink it. However, I understand everyone feeling because I'm chocoholic. I drink a lot of Cocoa drinks eveyday. It makes me clam down and feel happy ,especially when I have a lot of home work to do. I think our lifes are very short so let's enjoy drinking or eating something you love. You can't drink anything when you're dead.

ReplyDeleteI also don't drink coffee, I love its smell but I don’t' like its taste. I agree when you said our life is very short and human can't eat when they die but I disagree that you recommend drinking or eating everything you want before you die. If you want to die peacefully without pain, you should pick to eat healthy food not junk food that will harm your health when you’re getting old. Alcoholic beverage is dangerous if you keep drinking in long period of time, it cause the liver cancer. My idea is be happy and enjoy life by eating or drinking everything that not cause the health problem for your in the future.
Good news on the BBC this morning - but now I'm worried that I'm not drinking enough coffee every day!
