Chronic fatigue

Have you ever had chronic fatigue syndrome ? How do you treat it?

Prof Paul Mccrone, a health economist from King's College London, said that exercise and behavioural therapies were the most effective and successful ways to treat chronic fatigue syndrome. However, There was some research showing that pacing therapies, learning to live within limits, were better and safer for patients.

I thought that exercise and behavioral therapies were the most effective treatments. Most people work all day ,and still do a job on Saturday and Sunday, which results in chronic fatigue syndrome. They do not have time to rest or get exercise at all. Getting exercise can significantly improve energy levels and decrease fatigue. Furthermore, Exercise is a way for people to feel more energetic. For example, some people are not sleeping enough so they become weary but If they get exercise regularly, they will feel rejuvenated.

  1. Thank you Anne,
I know you've put a lot of effort into this response writing post on a BBC News article.

It's very good, and gives us some useful points for discussion tomorrow, as does Benz's.

About how much time have you spent writing this?

  2. I agree with this article about the treatment from chronic fatigue syndrome. People in modern day tend to work in longer hours and would lack of enough excercise. I think people especially those living in the big city may not have enough of sleep time as well.

I think some of life style diseases may be te result of the modern lifestyle as well, for example, diabetes, heart attack and obesity. One solution is that people need to balance between work and life in proper. Those who have over-works will have a problem with thier mental health and thier relationship with family as well.

  3. Exsercise is good for your health. Some people like running and many enjoy working. People who don't exercise can get disease very easily. I believe that the best way to prevent chronic fatigue syndrome is exercising. I work out 4 days a week to keep my body stay fit and healthy. Tennis is my favorite sport these days. It is exciting and fun.

  4. Like my vet's teacher said the best therapy is prevention, you should protect yourself from many disease by exercise and adapt your behavior to be healthy way, such as do not eat too much fat in food, try to eat food which cover the 5 main nutrient that body want.

After I graduated from university last year, I gain my weight so much[T^T]. Moreover, I have hard work, last week I have to work 7 days/week, so that I have no time to work out. That's too bad from my health.

And I think that many people have same problem after graduation, don't I?

    1. I agree that prevention is better than cure. Sometimes I worry that I don't get enough exercise, but I hope that moving around fairly constantly whilst I'm teaching counts for something: it isn't very intense, but at least I'm not sitting down for a few hours every day.

When I'm feeling highly motivated, and it's not too hot, I walk to AUA from my home on Silom, but I have to admit that it's much easier to walk to Chongnonsri BTS and then to AUA from Rajadamri BTS.

Actually, I've always liked walking. When I lived in Sydney, I also lived in the inner city area, next to my university, and used to walk almost everywhere. But in those days I also swam, played squash, and worked out. These days I'm down to a bit of modest walking.

    2. Unfortunately, I think the only way to lose weight is not to eat so much of the things I love, and that solution does not appeal to me.

  5. I think exercise is the best way too. I usually go to fitness about 2-3 days a week no matter what how busy I am and after finish my exercise I feel more fresh and energetic. Exercise also helps me to get a good sleep which rejuvenate my mind and body.

I am pleased that today many young people(Including me ^^)are more interested in exercise. Because when I went to the fitness I saw many students or young people were exercising. I think this is a good sign that people in our society concern more about the benefit from the exercise than before.
