One of my academic interests is Pharmaceutical economics. It studies about how to select the most effective medication with lowest cost to cure a certain disease. This is very important because today's price of medicine is relatively high. The newer drug innovation, the more price it becomes. However, sometimes drug with high price does not mean that the drug will give you the most effectiveness.
To study Pharmaceutical economics, we use the principle of economics to help evaluating the cost-effectiveness of medicine. After the evaluation, we could summarize the outcome and utilize it as the criteria of appropriate drug selection for generalized population.

Your academic interest is really interesting. I have never heard that before! I also really like you style of writing. It helps give the idea for people with zero background like me to understand it easily.
