Can New York beat Silicon Valley?

One of the locations, where many people who work in the field of computer and technology desire to work, is Silicon Valley. The origin of this word, Silicon Valley, was from silicon chip which is an important part of computer. It is located in California in the United States. In Silicon Valley, there are many high-tech companies, such as Google, Hewlett-Packard, Intel, IBM and Facebook. Not only computer and technology companies are in Silicon Valley, Stanford, one of the best universities in the world, and IDEO, a world-class design consultant company, are located in this location. Because investments in Silicon Valley affect to the national economic, Japan and India tried to create their own Silicon Valley, but they cannot attract investors as much as in Silicon Valley. Few recent days ago, Michael Bloomberg, New York City's mayor, revealed the plan to overtake Silicon Valley.

The Businessinsider’s article reported that Bloomberg invited a dozen of schools to join his plan. The city will upgrade infrastructure of the selected schools for becoming a world-class campus. Furthermore, we will not catch-up Silicon Valley in short period, but will take long term for building the great college and attracting entrepreneurs and world-class engineers and scientists, he said.

I agree with him to build the second Silicon Valley, in case his plan will have succeeded because if there are more companies, there will have more competition. At last, the customers or the users will get more benefits from them. But building the second Silicon Valley is definitely hard and must spend very long times on it. In my opinion, New York should not copy Silicon Valley’s model and should find another investment field which matches the characteristics of New York.
