Cleaning out of illegal police!!

Many weeks ago, I have heard news from TV about phone hacking scandals done by many big presses in USA and UK which have been supported by police. This illegal activity has againsted the law and broken the ethnics and trust of press and also destroyed human right seriously. Moreover, it has eradicated the honor of police institution. I am thinking everybody who has been involved this illegal activity should be punished. Then, I have read the article from BBC News "Milly Dowler family lawyer in pollice 'clean out' call" (BBC News, 2011)

The article tell the story of Milly Dowler, a thirteen years old girl, who was abducted in 2002 while she walked home from school and the murderer was convicted in 2002. In June it was revealed Milly Dowler's phone was hacked by the News of the Worlds after her abduction in 2002. A Surrey Police Officer was taken off the investigation into disappearance of same year. The family lawyer of Milly Dowler, Mark Lewis, said there were certain officers appeare to have given information out to the press and that doesn't seem to have been taken seriously enough by Surrey Police (Para.6) Then he request for cleaning out the force of anyone who's been involved in giving out confidential information that relates to investigation of crime (Para.12).

I agree with Lewis that it's time to clean out bad police because they play an important role in criminal justice. They can make crime situation in the way that they want it to be. As my experience, the special crime I've seen from TV always related to police acting in appropriately. Even in our daily life, when we drive on the road and the police ask for stopping the car, we might afraid that they will throw some mistake or charges to us even we don't do anything wrong. That was my bad perception of police to me. One thing from this article that I surprise is that I just wonder police's problem has occured all around the world not only in Thailand. So it's time to clean it out not only police but for all officers who are important institution to organize the society. I think to solve this problem need to start with changing the government point of view (even it's so hard). Furthermore, public awareness are also needed to protect ourselves and keep our eyes to police's acting. If we cannot do anything so please just keep away from police, it might be the best way.

  1. I think police salaries need to be raised first.
When police are fairly paid for the very important jobs that they do, we can reasonably expect a high standard from them, and then execute all the corrupt traffic police and others who take bribes from motorists and other criminal citizens who break the law. ANd perhaps throw the motorists and other law breaking criminals who pay bribes into prison because they are encouraging corruption by paying bribes to escape punishment.

Harsh punishments such as execution and imprisonment are very effective at changing behaviour. Of course, it would mean killing a lot of corrupt police and throwing a lot of people who support corruption into prison, but might it be worth that to get rid of corruption, which would be very good for society?

  2. I think corruption problems can be found in every department around Thailand. Traffic police is the most outstanding example.

  4. I think that police provide an important, an essential, service in every society, and they should be well paid for that.

Taxes would not have be increased because cuts could be made in other areas, for example, cutting out the enormous amounts of money now wasted, as well the enormous waste of police human resources, in trying to stop the sale and use of drugs, would provide enough money to pay police properly without raising taxes. And legalising the drugs would also greatly reduce police corruption because there would no longer be any need to bribe police, who would have a lot more time and resources to investigate and stop real crimes like murder, rape, theft, fraud and so on, instead of wasting time and resources interfering in the lives of people who are not harming others against their will.
