What I read
In "Why sharks like it hot - but not too hot" , Helen Briggs (2018) mentioned that tiger sharks prefer 22 C temperature to live and would make conflict to human due to their migration.According to Dr Payne's research, predicting when and where tiger shark attacks might happen in particular time of the year, the researchers catch the shark and attach electronic devices to measure their activities related to temperature changing. By doing that, we will get an idea concerning shark's migration and how marine animals adapt to global warming that cause a climate fluctuation.
Also, we can plan some strategies to prevent shark attacks without culling them.

My response
This article remind me of one of my veterinary friend that is really fond of diving. When many people fear of facing sharks, it would be ecstatic for her to meet the sharks while she is diving, and I think she would give everything to get in that sharks research team. She told me that she really love shark especially whale shark, and she also had a chance to meet of of them during her diving trip at Phuket,Thailand. But for me, sharks is quite intimidating and I wish not to face them when I am swimming in the sea. So, I find this research interesting that,in the near future, we could predict where and when shark attacks are going to happen, which will be really benefit to people like me because sometimes, when I am in the sea, I imagine myself surrounded by groups of blood-lust sharks that are going to bite me at any time, so i prefer to stay on the beach instead of being food for my imaginary sharks.
Moreover, if they can success in predicting shark's activity of migrating, and can developed some kind of application that warn people about sharks, that would be great to reduce number of people attacked by sharks and people would be more comfortable with their beach trip and feel more safer.
If that application are available, I would not hesitate to purchase one.

I think whale sharks are gentle, right? So I wouldn't mind meeting one of them. The trouble is, I don't know which sharks are friendly and which might be looking for a snack. When I watch nature documentaries, one of my favourite animals are blue whales. Their amazing size an gracefulness always holds my attention. But if I were in the water with one, I would probably worry that it might accidentally squash me like a fly.
ReplyDeleteBut since I've never been diving and prefer mountains to the sea, I'm probably pretty safe from all those animals that we share our planet with.
I cannot imagine when I confront with sharks because they are so fierce. I must fell struggle and not move my body. This article can lead the new tool for protect human from sharks, and this is a great idea. However, humans should not dive at their living areas, and do not disturb them in order to avoid harming to them and protect their life behavior.
ReplyDeleteThat's interesting !! Your friend was very good luck to see whale shark because it is nearly extinct animal and it is a new reserve animal that is announced in 2016. But I can't imagine that if I meet a shark what I have to do and how to survive, I maybe swim as fast as I can haha.
ReplyDeleteI think every kinds of animal, They want to live peacefully but human have been invading there habitats. I think this a great idea to know their habitat, behavior and when they close to the seashore in order to protect being attack by them and also protect them from us.
