My answer is:
Yes, I really love dark chocolate.
I am a chocolate lover and I want to be healthy, so I pick this passage to read to expand my knowledge about what choice of chocolate I should choose. However, after I read this, I feel very disappointed. It does not tell me which one is better.
I have loved eating chocolate since I was young. It is delicious and it makes everything more tasty. When I was a kid, I hated drinking milk because it smelled bad. So, my dad bought me chocolate milk and it became the only milk I could drink. I cannot imagine life without chocolate. Nowadays, if I am stressed, I will have some dark chocolate. It make me feel better and it is not too sweet.
If I have plenty of time, I like to bake brownie or chocolate fudge cake. It is very easy and tastes good, even though it makes me fat. I try to adapt the recipes and use more organic ingredients, but it reduce the deliciousness of the bakery. So, I decide to follow the original recipes and decrease the amount that I consume.
I still wonder if dark chocolate is the best sweet for being healthy?

I love dark chocolate. My favourite is Lindt Excellence, which is 99% cocoa. It's not sweet at all, being almost pure cocoa. Just writing this, I can feel my body, mainly my mouth, responding and getting ready for a dose of chocolate, so I guess I have to go shopping.

Milk chocolate - yuck.
Chocolate milk - Wan's comments on that reminded me of my primary school days, when we had chocolate milk for our short break every day. It was disgusting, and usually warm from having sat unrefrigerated for a few hours. I have many happy memories of primary school, but chocolate milk is definitely not one of them.
On the other hand, hot chocolate is OK if not sickly sweet. And then there are the cakes ... the Oriental Hotel makes an excellent Sacher cake. Thankfully, that's not so convenient to run to. Some plain, dark Lindt should do the trick.
And although I grew up on a farm part of which was dairy, I hate milk and never drink it. I think my nasty primary school experience is to blame, although when I was at university, I had no problem drinking it at breakfast. Perhaps a social value - custom thing? Or maybe tastes changed for some other reason.

DeleteYes, I like many types of chocolate, such as white or dark chocolate. Every year, my aunt living in Australia comes back to Bangkok to meet her parents and travel with her Thai friends. She always comes back with many kinds of chocolate, like chocolate almond bars or strawberry chocolate bars. they are much more delicious than Thai's chocolate.
ReplyDeleteHowever, I try to avoid eating them as they have lots of calories. For example, dark chocolate 100 grams has 515 calories that equal to fried noodle with pork in soy sauced and vegetable. So, if I eat lots of chocolate, I probably be obese and get many diseases, e.g. hypertension and heart diseases. Furthermore, I'm sportsman. Thus, it's difficult to play sports for a long time if I'm fat.
I agree that chocolate from other countries usually taste better than chocolate in Thailand.
DeleteI think if you are a sportsman, you can have some chocolate because you will do a lot of exercise anyway.
I agree that eating chocolate can be a kind of stress relief and energy booster.

ReplyDeleteChocolate is really my thing. But I can’t eat dark chocolate consisting of 50% cocoa and beyond. It is pretty bitter for me. Like Peter, I don’t like milk chocolate too; it is distasteful. Almost every kinds of sweet and snacks I eat are always chocolate flavor. If possible, every ingredient in sweets and snacks should be made of cocoa. That’s very palatable and appetizing.
ReplyDeleteWhen I went to travel aboard, I usually bought chocolate bar and related product to give to my friends, my family and of course me as well. There are such various brands of chocolate that I want to try all in shops in European countries—especially in Switzerland, but I cannot. I have to buy the one that are well-know and affordable.
Yet, I am more concern about eating chocolate with sugar too much because of bad effects on my health and my money. When Chan talks about the number of calories on cocoa-based products, that reminds me of being more careful to eat chocolate because I barely realize the calories at all.

DeleteI prefer chocolate-flavor snacks too. And I understand that buying chocolate is not only a flavor, but the price is also another thing to consider due to the fact that some are very expensive.

I think it may be around 6-10 mins to read the post as well as all previous comments and then to comment. I hate eating chocolate, even it's milk chocolate. I don't enjoy any kind of chocolate at all moreover i don't feel like it's a way to relieve my stress too. I prefer drinking coffee.
